Full Job Description
ASRC Federal Agile Decision Sciences LLC is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator - Lead (LINUX) to support the Command-and-Control Support Agency (CCSA), Technical Services Division (TSD) at the Pentagon. ASRC Federal performs this work as a subcontractor supporting the CCSA TSD requirement.

In this role you will serve as the senior technical authority for the Linux/UNIX environment supporting Army command-and-control mission systems. You will own the health, security posture, and availability of that environment, set technical direction for administration and sustainment activities, and serve as the escalation point for complex operating system, application, and data interface issues.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership across concurrent projects and cross-functional teams, with strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Linux administration in support of the U.S. Army and on Command and Control (C2) systems is highly desired.
  • Extensive working knowledge of IT networking, hardware, firmware, application software, operating system software, and database management systems (DBMS).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, configure, tune, patch, and sustain Linux/UNIX operating systems across the supported enclave.
  • Troubleshoot operating systems, applications, databases, email systems, and complex data interface issues to root cause.
  • Administer Linux systems hosted in a complex, multi-layered network environment.
  • Apply and validate current Information Assurance and IT security controls, including STIG implementation, ACAS scanning, and remediation of findings.
  • Perform monitoring, intrusion and penetration detection, and alert notification; escalate in accordance with established incident response procedures.
  • Administer SAN storage, enterprise backup solutions, and fault-tolerant technologies.
  • Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and operating procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards and documentation.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior administrators and serve as the day-to-day technical point of contact for Linux/UNIX matters.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eight (8) or more years of Information Technology experience, including a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on Linux/UNIX system administration. (Confirm against PWS 3.0 before posting - see note.)
  • Demonstrated experience administering Linux systems in a complex, multi-layered enterprise network.
  • Working knowledge and applied experience with current IA and IT security control implementation procedures, to include STIGs and ACAS.
  • Experience with SAN storage, enterprise backup solutions, and fault-tolerant technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or senior escalation point.

Preferred:
  • Linux/UNIX administration experience in a U.S. Army or DoD operational environment.
  • Experience supporting Command and Control (C2) systems.
  • Virtualization experience (VMware vSphere or equivalent), scripting/automation, and configuration management tooling.

CERTIFICATIONS
  • DoD 8570.01-M / DoDD 8140.01 IAT Level III baseline certification required at time of onboarding.
  • Computing Environment (CE) / Operating System certification correlating to the Linux environment, required within six (6) months of assignment to the position.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Additional directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree where permitted by the contract.

CLEARANCE LEVEL
  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required at the time of application. This position supports an operational requirement with an immediate start; candidates who would need to be submitted for an initial investigation cannot be considered.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain the clearance for the duration of the assignment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • This position is full-time on-site at the Pentagon, Washington, DC. Telework is not available for this role.
  • Core support hours are Monday through Friday during normal duty hours, with occasional after-hours or weekend support required for maintenance windows, outages, and time-sensitive security actions.
