Senior Engineer - CIWS

Contingent upon Customer Approval

Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Senior Engineer- CIWS to provide senior-level engineering support to the Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) program.
  • The Senior Engineer will provide technical expertise in weapon system design, engineering analysis, and review of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) designs.
  • This role is in Arlington, VA.

Job Description:
  • Provide senior-level engineering and technical support for CIWS weapon system requirements.
  • Review and evaluate OEM engineering designs, drawings, technical documentation, specifications, and proposed system changes.
  • Provide technical comments, recommendations, and engineering assessments related to weapon system design and performance.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of gun weapon systems and associated mechanical, electrical, and system-level interfaces to support engineering decisions.
  • Evaluate engineering changes for technical feasibility, system impacts, risks, and compliance with program requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical reviews, working groups, and engineering meetings.
  • Interface with government engineers, OEM representatives, program management personnel, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues associated with CIWS systems and components.
  • Analyze technical data and develop engineering recommendations, reports, briefings, and other documentation.
  • Support configuration management and assessment of proposed modifications to fielded systems.
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the engineering lifecycle, including design, development, integration, testing, installation, sustainment, and modernization activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering and program personnel as required.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Must have at least 15 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Must have demonstrated design and engineering experience with CIWS.
  • Must have experience with gun weapon systems and weapon system engineering.
  • Must have experience reviewing OEM designs and providing technical assessments and recommendations.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of engineering principles, design processes, technical documentation, and system integration.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must have valid US Driver's License.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience supporting Navy weapon system acquisition, development, modernization, or sustainment programs, preferred.
  • Experience with CIWS system modifications, upgrades, testing, or fielding, preferred.
  • Experience working directly with Navy program offices and OEM engineering organizations, preferred.
  • Advanced engineering degree, preferred.

Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain it.

Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal travel-less than 10%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
