Overview

The System Protection and Automation & Integration Engineering group within the Power Sector at TRC is seeking additional leadership to help manage a growing group of engineers. This Supervisor will work collaboratively with the department manager and other supervisors to manage staff and projects. Additionally, the Supervisor will engage in individual projects as a project lead for system protection.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a diverse staff of engineers within the System Protection and Automation & Integration groups.
  • Mentor and coach staff members.
  • Foster and promote a positive culture within direct report team and collaborating teams.
  • Review and approve staff time, expense, and requisition entries.
  • Collaborate with department manager on administration of company policies, salary administration, training, safety, employee development, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts including attendance at job fairs, industry focus groups, and intern program.
  • Prepare proposals and estimates for various projects.
  • Participate in business development activities, such as development of marketing materials, technical presentations, or attendance at trade shows. Attend client business development meetings to represent specific technical expertise when necessary.
  • Collaborate on management of the overall workload for the group including resource allocation, QA/QC, and backlog forecasting.
  • Work with project leads to set and manage priorities to levelize demand on individual staff.
  • Assist with project management including budgets, schedules, and client relations.
  • Interface with other levels of management within TRC including project management, department management, and practice leaders.
  • Perform duties as a Lead Engineer on assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • 7 or more years of electrical engineering experience in System Protection and/or Automation & Integration groups within the power industry performing (among others) one or more of the following technical tasks:
    • Developing relay settings and associated documentation to provide adequate system protection for various equipment in the electrical grid.
    • Conducting various power system-related studies such as wide area protection coordination, CT performance evaluations, short circuit studies, impact and feasibility studies.
    • Developing protection settings standards and templates to streamline relay settings processes.
    • Conceptual and detailed design, specification, procurement, integration, configuration, and commissioning of electrical utility:
      • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems
      • Protective Relays
      • Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs)
      • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
      • Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
      • Communication Networks
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
    • Professional Engineer (US PE or Canadian P.Eng) license (preferred).

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
