Job Description

Position Summary

This is a critical, high-visibility role supporting the development and deployment of a next-generation portfolio of centrifugal oil-free compressors. By combining oil-free architecture with advanced high-speed centrifugal technology, this solution delivers step-change improvements in energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability, enabling customers to meet increasingly demanding performance and decarbonization goals while reducing operational complexity and total lifecycle costs.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will act as a system-level authority, driving customer adoption, influencing product strategy, and ensuring best-in-class performance, compliance, and value across demanding industrial cooling applications. You will also play a key role in defining top-down system performance requirements early in the product development process.

Key Responsibilities

System Leadership and Customer Engagement
  • Act as a trusted technical authority for OEMs, integrators, and key customers.
  • Define and drive top-down system performance requirements, translating application needs into product specifications.
  • Lead system-level analysis and architecture definition for complete cooling installations, including data centers, warehouses, and industrial facilities.

HVAC System Design and Architecture
  • Develop optimized HVAC system configurations, including:
    • Multi-compressor architectures and sequencing strategies.
    • Cascade and hybrid systems.
    • Start-up behavior, transient operation, and system dynamics.
  • Provide deep expertise in:
    • HVAC system architecture and integration beyond individual components.
    • Refrigeration cycles and advanced system design for chillers and cooling systems.
    • Refrigerants, including current and emerging low-GWP or natural options.
    • Compression technologies (centrifugal and positive displacement).

Performance Optimization and Product Development
  • Optimize system-level performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Support system validation, commissioning, and early product deployments.
  • Influence product definition and roadmap through system expertise and customer insights.

Certification and Compliance
  • Lead certification and compliance activities (UL, CE, IEC, ISO), ensuring design-for-compliance early in development.

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Thermal, or related Engineering field.

Experience
  • Extensive industry experience and recognized expertise in HVAC systems and cooling system design, with 15+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience at the system level, including architecture and integration of complete cooling installations.

Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Multi-compressor systems, sequencing, and control strategies.
    • Cascade systems and advanced configurations.
    • Start-up, transient behavior, and system operations.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC applications such as chillers, heat pumps, and rooftop units across industrial and commercial use cases.
  • Strong focus on energy-efficient system design, including part-load and lifecycle performance.
  • Understanding of HVAC control systems, including integration with variable frequency drives and diagnostics.
  • Broad knowledge of compressor technologies.
  • Knowledge of efficiency and refrigerant regulations and future trends globally.
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers and influencing system design decisions.
  • Experience with UL and/or other certification processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial cooling applications including data centers or industrial facilities.
  • Expertise in Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and system integration considering electrical specifications, interfaces, diagnostics, environmental requirements, design to cost, serviceability, and related considerations.

Key Strengths
  • Strong systems thinking and engineering judgment.
  • Ability to operate at both system architecture and detailed technical levels.
  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Results-driven, analytical, and hands-on.
