DCS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer providing support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/ISR SOF (AFLCMC/HB). The Air Force Program Execution Office for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Special Operations (PEO ISR SOF) has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility to manage and execute the modernization, development, testing, production, fielding, and sustainment of the ISR SOF portfolio, which includes over 200 programs for the United States Air Force (USAF) and foreign allies. AFLCMC/PEO ISR SOF is headquartered at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH with geographically separated operating units CONUS and OCONUS. This position supports the AWACS (E3) and Wedgetail (E7), and the International Airborne Battle Management Command and Control (FMS) Division; AFLMC(WIW). The WIW Division located at Tinker AFB (OK), and Hanscom AFB (MA), with dispersed support at Eglin AFB, Seattle WA, San Antonio TX and several OCONUS positions.

This is a full-time position located at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA. This position will specifically support the E7 program office, focusing on the acquisition documentation required for a new major acquisition program entering the major milestone decision process. The focus currently will be defining the requirements for the E-7 OFT and VMT, providing COAs for Level D certification including the tasks required to achieve level D and type of data required, certification of models used in the SIL for verification testing, and installation of the GSDL.

Essential Job Functions:

Conduct comprehensive program portfolio reviews to evaluate and recommend alternative plans, enhance systems engineering processes, manage and sustain technical baselines, and design/perform system-level tests to ensure subsystem and system performance align with approved specifications.

Review and evaluate alternative plans, systems engineering programs, designs, and test results to verify subsystem and system performance compliance with program specifications.

Prepare technical documentation defining and recommending system/subsystem characteristics, management reports, and technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions, applying engineering economy principles.

Perform system validations, including criteria and procedure development, and analyze/evaluate major engineering system results.

Provide engineering, technical support, and training for programs/initiatives, including acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, evolution, deployment, fielding, installation, and operations oversight.

Support risk management activities in alignment with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (AF SEAM) processes.

Conduct formal trade studies considering engineering performance, effectiveness, cost-performance balance, lifecycle cost, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.

Offer technical recommendations through reviews, studies, audits, evaluations, analyses, procedural guidance, and documentation, supporting engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

Analyze proposals to compare and quantify technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness of proposed systems and components.

Concepts and Requirements Analysis:

Review and analyze key documents, including Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), and Analyses of Alternatives (AoAs).

Conduct assessments of military utility, operational concepts (CONOPs), technology development strategies, functional configuration audits (FCAs), physical configuration audits (PCAs), and technology standards profiles.

Analyzing system concepts and user requirements entered into system requirements baselines (functional, allocated, and product).

Engineering Process Support:

Assist in material solution analysis, technology development, engineering, manufacturing, production, deployment, and operations support.

Provide support for engineering technical processes, including version/configuration control, requirements analysis, architecture design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, and decision analysis.

Perform risk, configuration, technical data, and interface management, as well as technical planning and assessments.

Technical Reviews and Documentation:

Support planning and execution of technical reviews (e.g., System Requirements Review, Technology Readiness Assessments) and develop associated documentation (e.g., Systems Engineering Plan, Risk Management Plan).

Develop systems engineering documentation, ensuring understanding of systems-of-systems interactions, configuration management, technical data packages, and acquisition/sustainment engineering processes.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of the customer, U.S. citizenship is required.

Must have Secret security clearance.

Bachelor's degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD OR 15 years of directly related experience, eight of which must be in the DoD.

Desired Skills:

Master's degree in a professional engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited educational program along with at least 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD.

Experienced in requirements development, production and deployment, and operation and support, architectures development & implementation, modeling & simulation including but not limited to Model Based Systems Engineering principles, verification & validation, technical data package development and sustainment, and principles of configuration management.

Experience with network architectures, embedded systems and application deployment across a variety of systems and hardware, to include cloud deployment and virtualization.

Familiarity with DoD Acquisition processes including Technology Maturation, Risk Reduction, Engineering Manufacturing and Development, Production and Deployment activities.

Familiarity with Electronic Warfare and/or Air Combat operations including live aircrew training/development of tactics, techniques, and procedures and Range Infrastructure architecture and systems.

Familiarity with Electronic Warfare and/or air combat operations, including live aircrew training and the development of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).

Familiarity with range infrastructure architectures and supporting systems is desired.

Understanding that Level D certification represents the highest qualification standard for Full Flight Simulators (FFS) under Federal Aviation Administration and European Union Aviation Safety Agency regulations, providing the highest level of realism for pilot training.

Knowledge that achieving Level D certification is particularly challenging because it requires live aircraft performance data, which may be difficult to obtain due to operational aircraft availability constraints.

Six-axis motion systems.

A minimum 150-degree visual field of view.

Highly accurate cockpit replicas.

Capability to support zero-flight-time training without prior aircraft experience.

Salary Range $90,220-$175,000
