Full Job Description
Mission:

Quantum is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support and maintain on premises Win-dows Server and Hyper V infrastructure, with a forward-looking role in transitioning services and workloads into AWS Cloud. This position is fully on site and requires hands-on administration of servers, storage, Active Directory, and enterprise services within a secure DoD environment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience with DISA STIG compliance, and the ability to support both current on prem systems and emerging cloud architectures.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform Operations & Maintenance (O&M), system management, and Cybersecurity Harden-ing for on prem Windows Server environments and future AWS cloud workloads.
  • Administer and maintain Hyper V hosts, virtual machines, and support infrastructure.
  • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and core Microsoft enterprise services.
  • Manage and maintain server and storage hardware, including monitoring, patching, and lifecycle operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues across software, firmware, hardware, networks, and operating systems.
  • Apply and maintain compliance with DISA STIGs and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Participate in planning and execution of cloud migration efforts, including hybrid architecture and AWS service adoption.
  • Support Kubernetes environments where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, diagrams, and configuration baselines.
  • Participate in capacity planning for on-prem and cloud infrastructure.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.
  • Create and modify automation scripts to streamline daily administrative tasks.
  • Work independently on tickets and projects with high integrity and minimal supervision.
  • Writes and edits technical materials (e.g., user manuals, reports, documents and deliverables). Assists project teams in collecting and organizing information. Reviews work and resolve discrepancies according to strict standards and guidelines. Analyzes, designs and develops new Information Technology (IT) requirements, prepares specifications for IT equipment acquisitions and modifies IT hardware and/or software as necessary to meet specialized user needs. Conducts site surveys to assess and document current site IT/network configuration and user requirements. Prepares implementation plans and site installation technical design packages. Prepares configuration change drawings and documentation for each information system and/or network. Assists in development of Risk Management Framework documentation and assists in maintaining the Authorization to Operate for information systems and applications. Prepares site installation and test reports. Coordinates installation operations and maintenance support. This may include the application of multiple engineering disciplines to IT and business modeling, analyses, specification development, hardware and software planning /implementation /modification/ coding, scheduling, configuration changes, and test reports for information systems, messaging and telecommunications systems. Performs network and information system installation efforts. Performs information systems administration, network administration and user support functions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and DoD relevant advancements.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Be an effective communicator and able to communicate - write, oral, and presentation formats.
  • Must have an Active DOD Secret Security Clearance and be able to obtain a DOD Top Secret Security Clearance and be eligible for SCI
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience, of which at least three (3) must be specialized experience including designing, implementing and/or administering medium to large information systems and/or networks.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience in creating technical documentation, reports and/or presentations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must have and maintain an appropriate DoDI 8570.01-M (Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program) certification for the appointed duty level.
  • A MS degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
  • A PhD in a related field may be substituted for an additional two (2) years of experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification (Security+ CE or higher).
  • DoD Computing Environment certification.
  • Experience working with DISA STIGs and secure configuration baselines.
  • Strong understanding of the system lifecycle, from design to operations.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and architectural diagrams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex issues.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and identify optimal technical solutions.
  • Experience establishing and tracking KPIs and service level metrics.
  • Working knowledge of AWS Cloud services and architectures.
  • Ability to isolate issues across software, hardware, networks, and OS layers.
  • Provide operational support for on prem infrastructure, including Hyper V and Windows Server ecosystems.
  • Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and identity services.
  • Experience maintaining server and storage devices.


Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree of science in engineering or scientific field of study from an accredited college or university
  • Hands-on experience in a classified environment.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF processes, and hardened configurations.
  • Experience using enterprise-level monitoring and configuration tools.
