GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of System Administrator to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a System Administrator, you will manage our Windows Server and Database environment. This includes Windows Server OS, Updates, supporting applications and related hardware. The System Administrator is responsible for a variety of applications and services including Microsoft SQL. The System Administrator is required to provide problem analysis, project planning and coordination, application support, vendor management and customer support to our internal users. You should possess a strong knowledge of Microsoft AD, SQL Administration (Including Reporting Services), 365 app suite and Azure.
Your Pay
The minimum starting pay for this role is $83,000 per year plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.
How You'll Help
- Deliver Best in Class customer service to ensure that our people and solutions can move swiftly to deliver the unexpected.
- Perform planning, design, installation, configuration, upgrade and migrations for database systems on Windows and Linux environments
- Monitor operational database environments and take corrective action to ensure maximum availability and performance
- Design and implement disaster recovery procedures necessary to recover systems within approved timeframes
- Support and maintain production servers (Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022) both physical and virtual
- Write and maintain scripts for automation using PowerShell
- Assist with the development of standards, policies and procedures to ensure database integrity
- Project management for initiatives as assigned
- Perform off-hours scheduled maintenance
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Provide support to 24x7 business for mission critical systems
- Share technical expertise by providing cross-training to other peers
- Participate in Helpdesk level 2 support
- Provide support for other projects and duties as assigned
- Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical issues. From frontline helpdesk requests to complex system and infrastructure challenges.
- Create technical documentation and disaster recovery procedures for assigned systems
Experience/Skills You'll Need
- Microsoft Exchange Hybrid Environments
- Active Directory and Directory sync configurations
- Utilizing RMM tools for Automation
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Moderate PowerShell scripting skills
- Knowledge of basic networking including Layer 3 connectivity and port level security to work with the security team to harden assigned systems
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies, preferably VMWare
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently
- Excellent problem-solving skills; able to effectively troubleshoot issues independently
- Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities
- Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic - able to work independently with an impeccable sense of honesty and integrity
- Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience in maintaining Office 365 and Power BI environments
- 2+ Years of MS SQL and similar platform administration
- Proficient in SQL DR strategies including Availability Groups, Mirroring, Log Shipping and maintenance plans
- Mimecast or similar e-mail protection
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant area
