Project Coordinator

GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Project Coordinator to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a Project Coordinator, you will help communicate with internal and external stakeholders, manage contractors, coordinate with other utilities, city and state entities for utility relocation projects and obtain TXDOT and railroad permits as needed.

Your Pay

The minimum starting pay for this role is $40.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.

How You'll Help
  • Manage multiple projects, including contractor assignment and overall execution
  • Coordinate utility relocation projects, including development of agreements, permits, and project documentation
  • Oversee joint use activities, including attachment requests, make-ready requirements, pole loading reviews, and compliance with utility standards
  • Support internal fiber make-ready efforts, including field assessments and project tracking
  • Assist with system improvement projects through design, permitting, and implementation support
  • Lead backbone extension projects, including design, permitting, easement acquisition, and member communication
  • Manage groundline pole inspection programs, including oversight and reporting
  • Oversee external design and staking vendors, ensuring designs meet utility standards, system requirements, and approved scope
  • Review construction drawings, staking sheets, and design submittals for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, coordinate approvals with local and state authorities, and support easement acquisition
  • Collaborate with Engineering on load analysis, system planning, and design feasibility
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams, utilities, municipalities, and stakeholders to support project execution
  • Develop project budgets and cost estimates; review proposals and support billing and invoicing processes
  • Coordinate material needs with internal teams and vendors to support project timelines
  • Monitor project schedules and provide status updates to stakeholders


Experience/Skills You'll Need
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently with internal employees as well as external contacts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills - able to effectively troubleshoot minor issues independently
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic. Able to work independently with an impeccable sense of integrity
  • Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
  • Work in extreme outdoor temperatures as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings


Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, NISC and a thorough understanding of the National Electric Safety Code is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of overhead and underground electric and fiber distribution systems
