Summary:

In partnership with Cook Children's senior leaders, develops, plans, implements, and advocates for a comprehensive Communication, Employee Connections program/strategy

Create innovative PR programs/strategies at both the local, national, and international level while having oversight for all official messaging. Collaborate with leaders in marketing and internal communications to promote the brand internally and externally and should the need arise serve as the point person in a rapid-response crisis team and will respond to media inquiries, including serving as spokesperson or selecting and preparing subject matter experts to respond.

Advises leaders on matters to address employees feeling welcomed, respected and valued and promote opportunity in the health care system to enhance our workforce, culture, and community. In addition, partners with department leaders to embed the employee connection strategy into system wide people processes and key organizational and community partnerships, ensuring strategic and tactical alignment with organizational priorities and goals. Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Cook Children's values and support our mission and vision.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts and issues is desired.
  • Experience and knowledge of health equity is desired.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen, with ability to understand organization dynamics and navigate corporate cultures and weave employee connection strategies into company objectives.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to link and integrate employee respect and kindness objectives with business goals and future trends.
  • Proven record of identifying opportunities and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships at all levels, both internal and external to the company. The ability to influence leaders at all levels without direct authority is crucial to this role.
  • Experience in leading multiple project-based initiatives across complex organizations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage others at all levels of the organization.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership for DE&I team.
