Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Sustaining Engineering Supervisor leads product support engineering and Technical Services activities at the Punta Gorda, FL, site. This role is responsible for resolving product performance issues, supporting manufacturing operations, and delivering high-quality technical support to customers.

This position combines hands-on engineering problem-solving with leadership responsibility, overseeing Technical Services personnel and a Manufacturing Technician. The role drives continuous improvement in product performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction while partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Service.

Essential Functions
  • Lead resolution of product quality and performance issues impacting manufacturing and customers
  • Conduct and lead root cause analysis on field failures and internal defects
  • Support Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Customer Service with technical problem resolution
  • Own warranty evaluations, including failure analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop and execute verification and validation plans
  • Maintain product documentation and support engineering change processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Oversee daily Technical Services operations, including customer inquiries, troubleshooting, and warranty processing
  • Lead and develop Technical Services Technicians to ensure high responsiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Establish and track KPIs such as response time, resolution effectiveness, and warranty trends
  • Drive continuous improvement of Technical Services processes, tools, and documentation
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to support customer needs and business growth
  • Provide hands-on technical support to the production floor to resolve issues impacting safety, quality, and delivery
  • Oversee Manufacturing Technician activities, including machining support, fixture modification, and prototype builds
  • Ensure timely resolution of production issues to minimize downtime
  • Identify and implement process improvements across manufacturing and engineering interfaces
  • Analyze trends in product failures, warranty claims, and technical support data
  • Lead corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues
  • Standardize processes and best practices across sustaining engineering and support functions
  • Support operational excellence initiatives aligned with site goals
  • Supervise Technical Services Technicians and Manufacturing Technicians
  • Provide coaching, training, and development to build team capability
  • Conduct performance reviews, 1:1 meetings, and development planning
  • Manage attendance, timekeeping, and employee relations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in sustaining engineering, product support, or manufacturing support
  • Experience troubleshooting product issues in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with testing, failure analysis, and lab equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive problem resolution
  • Strong knowledge of electronics hardware, embedded firmware, or electro-mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred:
  • Experience with pumps, fluid transfer systems, or industrial equipment
  • Six Sigma or continuous improvement training
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience

Physical Environment and Environmental Factors

This position operates in a manufacturing and engineering environment, requiring regular presence on the production floor as well as time in office and lab settings.

The role requires standing for extended periods, moving throughout production areas, and occasionally lifting materials up to 40 pounds.
