Full Job Description
Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Sustaining Engineer. The position will be based at our facility in Arden, NC.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.

What you'll do:

The primary function of the Sustaining Engineer is to be responsible for leading activities required to maintain and improve product design standards including bill of material revisions, drawing revisions, and new configurations from existing standards (new BOM's or drawings). Address and resolve maintenance of line issues through timely response and appropriate actions which meet the internal customer's requirements and/or exceed the expectations. Support the manufacturing assembly operations to improve and maintain the assembly processes and throughput utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts and Six Sigma methodology.

This position utilizes CAD technology to perform 2D/3D mechanical designs. The role requires technical work requiring a high degree of creativity as well as technical design and drafting skills, demonstrating a thorough understanding of basic materials, mechanical and electrical principles, and manufacturing concepts in the development of standard product designs and/or processing of customer orders of the most complex nature.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Lead activities required to maintain and improve product design standards including bill of material revisions, drawing revisions, and new configurations from existing standards (new BOM's or drawings).

B. Maintain CI-Tech (maintenance of line MOL) ETB Issue Category by closing ETBs through entering CMRs (ECN/ZLN) and supporting throughout their workflow, including ECO/CO/MCO processing through ENOVIA.

C. Provide timely resolution to maintenance of line issues that meet the requirements of internal customers. Provide accurate drawings and/or electronic data to manufacturing personnel or outside sources as appropriate.

D. Revise existing bills of material, mechanical and electrical design layouts, assembly and detail drawings and models utilizing Autocad Inventor.

E. Check layouts, drawings, and bills of material for completeness and accuracy. Perform necessary calculations such as: sizes, tolerances, and fit as required proving adequacy of design.

F. Exercise a working knowledge of shop fabrication, manufacturing, machining, and assembly and demonstrate full understanding of data input/output requirements of suppliers.

G. Recommend and implement ongoing process and procedural improvements in support of the operation of the department.

H. Support Change Management System and other ELSS and EQS requirements as appropriate.

I. Requires good computer skills and the ability to interface with all levels of the organization including staff management and shop floor personnel.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution with minimum 2 years of engineering experience OR Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited institution

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • MVCA product line experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other 3D engineering and design software programs.
  • Trained through Kaizen-based training courses for all the Lean tools.


Skills:

Position Criteria:
• Understanding and application of drafting standards and techniques (using computer-aided engineering software)
• Must demonstrate above average skill in Autocad Inventor.
• Train and assist other drafters in the use of advanced CAD system capabilities.
• Ability to use required engineering software tools and other common computer software (word processing, e-mail,
spreadsheets, etc.)
• Able to demonstrate a sound foundation in mechanical, electrical or electronic principals.
