Sustainability Operations Delivery Lead

Description -

Job Summary

The Sustainability Operations Delivery Lead is an expert-level role responsible for integrating and delivering HP's sustainability agenda to achieve Net Zero by 2040, with a primary focus on Scope 3 decarbonization, cost optimization, external outcomes, and enterprise storytelling.

This role unifies execution across three critical domains required to deliver Net Zero:
  • Customer-driven decarbonization (Carbon Sync and customer commitments)
  • Operational decarbonization (renewable energy strategy and execution with CREWS)
  • Supplier decarbonization (sourcing strategy and coordinated engagement across the value chain)

The role ensures these workstreams operate as a single, coordinated system, delivering:
  • Measurable emissions reductions aligned to Net Zero 2040
  • Cost-optimized decarbonization strategies
  • Audit-ready, externally credible data and reporting
  • Compelling, differentiated narratives for HP's sustainability leadership

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Integration of Decarbonization Workstreams
  • Integrate and align:
    • Customer-driven decarbonization
    • Operational decarbonization (CREWS)
    • Supplier decarbonization
  • Establish a single operating model across:
    • Strategy → Execution → Data → Reporting → Narrative
  • Reduce fragmentation, ensuring:
    • Shared priorities
    • Aligned metrics
    • Consistent delivery cadence

2. Sustainability Delivery (Scope 3 + External Outcomes)
  • Lead execution across:
    • Renewable energy
    • Carbon reduction and removals
    • Water and waste
    • Operational circularity (internal operations and resource flows, not product/packaging)
  • Ensure delivery supports:
    • Scope 3 targets
    • Customer requirements
    • Ecolabels and certifications (e.g., EPEAT, TCO)

3. Supplier Engagement Through Sourcing Strategy
  • Drive supplier decarbonization through strategic sourcing alignment:
    • Partner with Responsible Sourcing, Procurement, Climate, Circularity, and CREWS SMEs
    • Focus on orchestration rather than direct technical ownership
  • Orchestrate deep, coordinated supplier engagement:
    • Mobilize subject matter experts across key domains
    • Align supplier asks across:
      • Renewable electricity
      • Carbon data and reporting
      • Circularity and operational improvements
      • Human rights and compliance
    • Ensure streamlined, non-duplicative supplier experience
  • Ensure supplier programs deliver:
    • Clear expectations and adoption pathways
    • Coordinated outreach across HP functions
    • Alignment to scorecards, surveys, and reporting systems

4. Decarbonization Cost Strategy & Financial Optimization
  • Lead development of strategies to redefine and lower the cost of decarbonization, improving affordability of Net Zero goals
  • Evaluate financial trade-offs across key levers:
    • RECs vs PPAs vs VPPAs vs onsite generation
    • Carbon removal pathways (nature-based vs engineered)
    • Supplier vs operational investment strategies
  • Develop expertise in advanced market strategies, including:
    • Direct development of projects
    • Co-investment models
    • Long-term offtake or ownership approaches
  • Translate financial insights into:
    • Sourcing strategies
    • Executive decision frameworks
    • Market and customer narratives

5. Operational Decarbonization Alignment (CREWS Integration)
  • Partner with CREWS to align:
    • Renewable energy sourcing strategy
    • Operational emissions reductions
  • Ensure operational actions:
    • Support supplier engagement ("lead by example")
    • Enable customer commitments
    • Strengthen external positioning

6. Customer & Market Integration (Carbon Sync)
  • Integrate customer decarbonization requirements into:
    • Supplier strategies
    • Operational decisions
    • Reporting and data flows
  • Ensure consistency across:
    • Customer commitments
    • Certification requirements
    • External disclosures

7. Raters, Rankers, and Reporting Alignment
  • Drive performance across:
    • EcoVadis, CDP, and ESG benchmarks
    • Ecolabels (EPEAT, TCO)
  • Partner with Reporting teams to ensure:
    • Audit-ready, traceable data
    • Alignment between execution and disclosures
  • Connect:
    • Program delivery → metrics → external reporting

8. Storytelling, Narrative, and Differentiation
  • Develop integrated narratives connecting:

  • Translate technical work into:
    • Executive messaging

    • Supply chain decarbonization consortia
  • Leverage partnerships to:
    • Bring leading practices into HP

    • Climate
    • Responsible Sourcing
    • Circularity (operational focus)
    • CREWS
    • Digital/Reporting (FDL, SIRA, Resilinc)
  • Simplify the end-to-end Supplier → Operations → Customer → Reporting pathway

    • External ratings, certifications, and reporting credibility
  • Acts as:
