Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Survey Manager with an active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license to lead our survey operations and manage a high-performing team of survey professionals across multiple locations. This role combines technical expertise, people leadership, and project oversight to ensure quality deliverables, client satisfaction, and efficient project execution.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of survey staff, including surveyors, technicians, and field crews
  • Manage workload planning, staffing, scheduling, and project prioritization
  • Oversee and perform survey review, calculations, boundary analysis, and QA/QC
  • Ensure compliance with state laws, professional standards, and company procedures
  • Serve as the responsible PLS on survey projects, including signing and sealing plans
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to support project goals
  • Support staff development through mentoring, training, and performance feedback
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and team development activities
  • Assist with budgeting, resource forecasting, and continuous process improvement
  • Represent the survey department in internal meetings and client interactions
  • All other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in [State] (multi-state licensure a plus)
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive survey experience
  • Proven experience managing or leading a survey team
  • Strong knowledge of boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking
  • Proficiency with survey software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or similar)
  • Experience repairing and reviewing Platts is preferred and not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and quality standards


Qualifications
  • Experience working in a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Familiarity with UAV, LiDAR, or advanced survey technologies
  • Prior responsibility for departmental operations, budgeting, or workflow improvements
  • Strong client-facing and business development support experience
