Overview

The surplus lines tax analyst supports the surplus lines tax specialist in the administration of realpage insurance's surplus lines premium tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions and insurance products. This role is responsible for performing standard recurring tasks related to data gathering, reconciliations, filing support, payment support, record retention, and compliance tracking under the supervision and direction of the surplus lines tax specialist. The analyst helps ensure filings and related documentation are prepared accurately and timely in accordance with established procedures. this position is execution-focused and works closely with compliance, accounting, insurance operations, and other internal stakeholders to support a controlled and sustainable surplus lines tax process

Responsibilities

  • Compile, organize, and validate premium, policy, cancellation, endorsement, refund, and adjustment data from source systems and reports for use in surplus lines tax filings.
  • Prepare routine reconciliations of premium, tax, stamping fees, and related filing data under the review and direction of the Surplus Lines Tax Specialist.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc surplus lines tax filings, affidavits, payment requests, and related compliance documentation.
  • Maintain filing calendars, trackers, and status reports to help ensure deadlines, submissions, and follow-up items are completed on time.
  • Prepare filing packages, supporting schedules, and backup documentation for review by the Surplus Lines Tax Specialist prior to submission.
  • Research and escalate discrepancies, missing data, rejected filings, notices, and routine exceptions to the Surplus Lines Tax Specialist for resolution.
  • Maintain organized records of filed reports, payment confirmations, correspondence, audit support materials, and other compliance documentation in accordance with retention requirements.
  • Support updates to desk procedures, SOPs, checklists, and process documentation to promote consistency, control, and business continuity.
  • Assist with responses to routine internal and external requests for filing support, documentation, and status updates.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in insurance tax, premium tax, insurance compliance, accounting operations, or a related analytical/administrative role focused on regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with detailed reconciliations, recurring reporting cycles, or compliance-driven processes.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Required:
  • Strong Excel skills, including reconciliation, data validation, and reporting analysis.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and deadline management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax and compliance matters to non-specialists.
  • Ability to work independently, identify issues proactively, and build practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation may vary depending on your location, qualifications including job-related education, training, experience, licensure, and certification, that could result at a level outside of these ranges. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus, and sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role as well as individual performance.

Pay Range

USD $62,900.00 - USD $107,100.00 /Yr.
