Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting performing all duties associated with provision of patient care activities, related non-professional services necessary for patient care, and the maintenance of the operating room under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Surgeon. The Technologist will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
- Prepare procedure rooms.
- Arrange instruments for procedures.
- Maintain sterile techniques within the sterile field and clean procedure rooms after each case.
- Gather, arrange, and prepare instruments before procedures; remove afterwards and ensure sterilization of instruments.
- Assist Surgeons during procedures.
- Monitor all members of the clinical team to maintain a sterile field during procedures.
- Transport patients to and from the procedure room.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and sterilizing equipment.
- Ensure assigned areas are clean and stocked for future procedures.
- Assist with scheduling patients for procedures and patient discharge as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
- Graduate of an AMA approved school or program of Surgical Technology.
- Current New York State license.
- CST certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- A minimum of one-year experience required.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to perform across multi-disciplinary and/or specialties while maintaining high productivity and a professional and service-oriented demeanor.
- Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Email systems, etc.
- Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule).
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, microbiology, and surgical instrumentation and sterilization techniques to prepare equipment strongly preferred.
- Prior EMR experience, EPIC preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $32.69 - $47.40Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
