Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting performing all duties associated with provision of patient care activities, related non-professional services necessary for patient care, and the maintenance of the operating room under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Surgeon. The Technologist will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
  • Prepare procedure rooms.
  • Arrange instruments for procedures.
  • Maintain sterile techniques within the sterile field and clean procedure rooms after each case.
  • Gather, arrange, and prepare instruments before procedures; remove afterwards and ensure sterilization of instruments.
  • Assist Surgeons during procedures.
  • Monitor all members of the clinical team to maintain a sterile field during procedures.
  • Transport patients to and from the procedure room.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and sterilizing equipment.
  • Ensure assigned areas are clean and stocked for future procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling patients for procedures and patient discharge as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school or program of Surgical Technology.
  • Current New York State license.
  • CST certification required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • A minimum of one-year experience required.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to perform across multi-disciplinary and/or specialties while maintaining high productivity and a professional and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Email systems, etc.
  • Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule).
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, microbiology, and surgical instrumentation and sterilization techniques to prepare equipment strongly preferred.
  • Prior EMR experience, EPIC preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Hourly Rate Ranges: $32.69 - $47.40
