Full Job Description
Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgery Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center, you will work in our twelve-room OR suite which maintains a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. This enables us to form close relationships with patients and their families during very difficult times. We also feature a 44-bay multi-level PACU with staff dedicated to trauma and other emergency cases. Our PACU features a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio. Throughout the unit we are committed to using the latest technology, affording staff the opportunity to constantly learn and enhance their skills. Your contribution is vital to fulfilling our mission, upholding core values, and supporting the strategic goals of a Level I Trauma Center operational 24/7.

 

Every day you will provide comprehensive, safe, and effective, evidence-based nursing care, organizing and prioritizing patient care activities while balancing patient needs and comfort. You will serve as a patient advocate, utilizing holistic care practices and adapting to swift changes in patient conditions. You'll also engage with the latest technology, continuously enhancing your skills, and actively participate in process and quality improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment committed to continuous learning.

 

To be successful in this role, you'll demonstrate exceptional communication, ethical accountability, critical thinking, and the ability to seek multidisciplinary collaboration. Your capacity to manage workload, apply negotiation and conflict management strategies, and consistently support the organization's strategic plan and performance improvement will be key to thriving in this dynamic Perioperative nursing environment, where innovation and patient safety are paramount.
