Full Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY

The Surgeon Training Manager, Professional Education supports the Professional Education team in designing and delivering the surgeon training curriculum for Tissium products, ensuring surgeons and OR staff are trained to proficiency on safe and effective surgical technique. This role covers the full training lifecycle - needs assessment, curriculum design, content development, delivery, and competency validation - and organizes training events and cadaveric labs. It works in close, collaborative partnership with Clinical Affairs to align training with field needs, stopping short of participation in clinical trial execution, investigator support, protocol training, or field monitoring.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the design and delivery of surgeon and OR staff training curricula on the safe and effective surgical technique for implanting Coaptium Connect products.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Clinical Affairs teams to align training programs with product adoption goals across health systems and surgical centers.
  • Plan, organize, and execute surgeon training events, hands-on workshops, and cadaveric labs.
  • Support initial implantation cases as needed, in facilities both inside and outside existing sales territories, to ensure successful surgeon training and adoption.
  • Support the development and maintenance of high-quality training curricula and materials - surgical technique guides, presentations, videos, assessments, simulation content.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with training faculty, key surgeons, and hospital education staff.
  • Collect training and curriculum feedback from surgeons, faculty, and Clinical Affairs field staff, and relay relevant input to R&D, Marketing, and Quality teams.
  • Track training completion, competency validation, and program utilization metrics; report on training program effectiveness.
  • Ensure all training activities comply with applicable regulations, quality standards, and company policies governing HCP interactions.
  • Support the identification and development of key opinion leaders (KOLs) and clinical faculty as training program contributors.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, education, instructional design, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience supporting the design and delivery of surgical training curricula or clinical/professional education programs in the medical device industry, ideally with surgical or implantable products.
  • Instructional design experience (curriculum development, adult learning principles, competency-based training) strongly preferred; OR experience or clinical background (surgical technologist, OR nurse, clinical/biomedical specialist) a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to support curriculum design and coach surgeons, faculty, and clinical teams on complex surgical techniques.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including internationally, to support training events, cadaveric labs, and initial surgeon cases where local sales support is not yet established (up to 60% travel).

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT
  • Clinical Expertise - strong understanding of surgical procedures and OR protocols, with credibility to train and support surgeons.
  • Teaching & Coaching - able to support the design and delivery of effective training programs for varied clinical audiences.
