Full Job Description
As a Landman you are responsible for managing surface-related land activities to support exploration and production operations. This role works closely with surface owners, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with agreements, permits, and operational requirements. The Landman plays a key role in negotiating and administering surface use agreements, resolving landowner concerns, and facilitating access for drilling, construction, and production activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as company liaison with landowners, tenants, surveyors, and contractors, County, and State regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration by coordinating with teams such as Land, Drilling, Completions, Production, Facilities, Geology, Reservoir, and Legal to support the company's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the staking of pipelines, wells, electric lines, tank batteries, compressor sites, and other related infrastructure to ensure proper placement and compliance with lease and surface use agreements.
  • Negotiate, analyze, draft, and secure land related contracts concerning the use of the surface and subsurface estates.
  • Interpret and enforce pipeline easements, lease rights, water use agreements, surface use agreements, and other contractual obligations to ensure compliance and adherence to all terms.
  • Track and monitor internal documents and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Represent the Company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances that may arise during negotiations with landowners and business activities with regulatory agencies
  • Efficient and effective communication internally and externally regarding ongoing projects, prospects, timeline strategy, etc.


Required Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; Petroleum Land Management or related, preferred
  • RPL/CPL preferred
  • 3-15 years of In-House Landman experience
  • Strong experience leading and directing field personnel (i.e. land brokers, surveyors, consultants, operations-field land team) in active development area.
  • Strong knowledge of land principles, surface use agreements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret title documents, agreements, and legal descriptions.
