Job Summary
This position is responsible for planning and directing staff chemists and technicians in the day to day operation of a nuclear power facility. This function often calls for the derivation and application of new or unique approaches. The Programs supervisor provides technical guidance and leadership to subordinate chemists. Laboratory supervisors provide technical guidance and leadership to the technicians.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
• Plan, organize, direct, and control chemistry resources and work activities including authorization of work order activities, review/approve/close and update PM and Surveillance Work Order activities and developing work and training schedules.
• Provide oversight of laboratory analysis data, assisting Operation Support group in procedure development/reviews and conducting benchmarking activities related to benchmarking and self-assessments.
• Plan, direct and organize the staff chemist in the following areas including Primary Chemistry, Secondary Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Closed Cooling Systems and Water Production.
• Interface with various industry and regulatory groups including USNRC, INPO and EPRI.
• Coordinate staff training and development.
• Oversight of chemistry control of plant systems in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry practice.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) AND
• Two years technical (plant operation or chemistry related) training.
• Four years experience in the chemistry field with a minimum 2 years nuclear chemistry experience.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of personnel including bargaining unit, non-exempt and exempt.
