As a Supervisory National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Large Bank Technical Team Lead) with emphasis in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk & Bank Information Technology, you will:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor risk specific supervisory activities. Assess risks, develop supervisory strategies, determine exam scope, and direct assigned personnel. Independently evaluate bank functions, identifies systemic risks, and recommends changes to examination policies. Implements the OCC's Supervision by Risk program.
- Lead examination staff in discussions with senior bank management regarding findings and recommendations. Prepare complex communications to senior bank management. Maintain effective internal OCC communications, ensuring appropriate coordination and follow-up. Represent the OCC at industry and interagency meetings.
- Supervise staff, direct resources, and manage assigned functional or risk specialty activities to carry out assigned programs and functions. Establish and communicate performance expectations and evaluate performance against OCC guidelines. Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, and adverse actions, etc. Resolve complaints, provide advice and counsel regarding administrative matters.
- Manage operational risk activities that generally include those related to financial institution corporate governance and corporate governance frameworks, internal controls and processes, internal control and audit management, enterprise/internal risk assessment, identification and testing, quality assurance, talent management and incentive compensation, and internal policy/procedure development, implementation and oversight.
- Manage bank information technology activities, that generally include those related to the financial institution's information technology, such as networks/technology infrastructure, data privacy/governance, data management, privacy/cybersecurity, secure coding/systems development, and technology recovery/continuity/resilience.
- Serve as lead examiner providing technical guidance and leadership for supervisory activities in designated risk or specialty areas. Operate within the most challenging large banks in the Large & Global Financial Institutions (LGFI) portfolio. Investigate and resolve highly complex specialty issues requiring advanced technical analysis, expert judgment, and high-visibility assignment participation.

Conditions of employmentThis position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.

QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-
V band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
- Leading financial institution audits, reviews, or examinations to identify, manage, and remediate organizational risks;
- Assessing financial institution compliance with applicable federal banking laws and regulations;
AND - Leading and developing bank examiners during bank supervision and oversight activities.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.To receive any credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate the number of hours worked per week, on your resume.EducationEducation cannot be used to qualify for this position.Additional information- This position is a Step 2 level position within the NB-VI pay band. Step 2 level positions are distinguished by additional job complexity, responsibility, and advanced skill levels required by the work.
- Applicants may apply under OCC's Alternative Location Arrangement and will be subject to the provisions of the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. Los Angeles, CA is the preferred location; though, any U.S. location of the OCC will be considered under an alternative work location provided the location is cost effective, operationally efficient, and complies with the standards contained in the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. If in an alternate location, when traveling to Los Angeles, CA, you will be expected to be on site no later than 1:30 pm on the first workday, departing no earlier than noon on the last workday and there should be no travel on Sunday unless there is a business need approved by your authorizing official in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and/or the OCC FTR Supplement.
