Primary Duties
1.Directs and oversees the efficient operation of GIS activities related to facility assets and geographical information
2.Directs and oversees the maintenance of map libraries and related databases including records obtained from various sources.
3.Develops, maintains, and facilitates GIS training materials and programs
4.Serves as subject matter expert and provides technical expertise/advice to GIS staff, other operational areas, and enterprise teams. Provides input on projects to assure area needs are addressed.
5.Develops and maintains reports for managements use. Conducts analysis and makes recommendations to aid in decision making.
6.Stay up to date of best practices and emerging technologies to make recommendations for continuous improvement and modernization of GIS.
7.Develops and implements policies, procedures, and standards to assure proper administration of activities.
8.Develops and monitors functional area budgets to assure efficient utilization of resources. Plans and directs the achievement of area goals and objectives within established company policies.
9.Maintains adequate staffing levels to assure proper administration of activities. Selects, develops, trains, motivates, and evaluates the performance of assigned employees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
1. Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field.
2. Four years related experience in GIS administration and/or programming, or equivalent.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with experience or knowledge of the technical area.
NUMERIC SKILLS:
Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages simple statistical methods, algebra, trig, and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Requires a very high level of computer skills to use and/or understand various programming languages for writing, modifying, and executing programs.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Works in an office environment. May on occasion work in an outdoor environment for field site visits.
Includes occasional travel out of town overnight.
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
