JOB TITLE: Supv Construction and Maintenance

DEPARTMENT: Distribution Operations - Atchison Service Center

LOCATION: Atchison, KS

PAY RANGE: $106,000 - $141,300 (Min-Mid)

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Note: This role requires incumbents to live within a reasonable distance (Ex: 35 miles) from the Atchison Service Center to ensure timely response for operational needs.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develops and supervises a team whose function is to install, maintain and operate the distribution systems, effectively coordinating the deployment and utilization of resources while ensuring the highest possible levels of safety, system reliability, customer satisfaction, and budget performance. In addition, this position coordinates and oversees designs to ensure consistent, efficient and cost-effective work designs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

A high school education is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
• The position requires a minimum of three years of previous electrical distribution/transmission operations, construction and maintenance experience. Previous supervisory experience is preferred, as is knowledge of the collective bargaining process.
• The incumbent must be familiar with the company's computer systems and programs, flexible, and possessive of strong leadership, communications, and human relations skills. The major challenge of this position is to accomplish all facets of distribution construction, maintenance and operation activities in a safe and efficient manner without excessive supervision of operations in the field.
• Requires the ability to work in a highly flexible environment, requiring adaptability.
• Collaborates closely with our scheduling group to prioritize, maintain and support work planning and schedule integration.
• This position will serve as the local liaison with Asset Planning, Field Engineering, Major Construction, and the C&I Business group and is responsible for transforming long term strategic plans for projects and initiatives into a backlog of prioritized, completed designs that can be tactically deployed to our construction workforce.
• Reviews, analyzes and updates project schedules on a regular basis, identifies resource or equipment gaps, and generates practical solutions to optimally utilize the resources. Develops and submits periodic reports and metrics to operations management on performance, risks and related impacts to the long-term plan for the division.
• Participates in regional on-call duty supervisor for multiple divisions within the region.
• The incumbent must be a participative change agent, developing and empowering the employees to complete their tasks as required while removing any impediments to that process. An additional challenge is to ensure that all in-service dates are met.
• The incumbent works within the policies and procedures set forth by the Company, and by the Vice President T&D Operations, Vice President Customer Services, and Engineering.
• The incumbent also adheres to all provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, the regulations of the two state commissions, the rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, OSHA, the EPA, the National Electric Safety Code, and all applicable state and local laws and regulations.
• This position requires contact with many departments throughout the Power Delivery division and Company. Outside contacts include customers, contractors, local law enforcement authorities, various governmental and civic organizations, media, railroads, consulting firms, other local utilities, fire protection agencies, and the Corps of Engineers.
• The effectiveness of the incumbent is measured by the level of distribution system reliability achieved, the percentage of in-service dates met, customer satisfaction levels, safety performance, budgetary performance, employee productivity, the number of legitimate grievances received, employee morale, and efficient resource utilization, as measured by budgetary performance and proper prioritization of work.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Must have a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the office and in the field in all types of weather conditions are required. Travel to other locations within the company, as well as some overnight travel is required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts, oftentimes on short notice. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
