Service Coordinator

Johnson Controls supports customers with life safety service work by helping keep scheduling, dispatch, and service commitments organized and on track.


Role Overview

In this role, you will coordinate and optimize service work so customers receive timely support and technicians are assigned efficiently. You will balance customer commitments, technician availability, and branch priorities while communicating clearly across customers, field teams, and management.


Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and optimize service work to ensure customer commitments are met regarding service delivery.
  • Use Oracle (ACE) automated scheduler functionality to assign service calls to the optimal technician.
  • Match work to the right technician based on skills, territories, customer preferred technician when applicable, availability, service contract response time, criticality of the call, and proximity to the customer.
  • Communicate with customers and personnel to resolve issues related to service repair scheduling.
  • Alert management to potential problems resulting from customer or field complaints and support resolution efforts.
  • Measure branch activity and compliance with program initiatives, identify improvement areas, and support action plans with branch and region management.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of actions taken and follow up with corrective steps as needed.
  • Prioritize scheduling backorders, track customer issues, and reassign work to manage expectations based on current workloads and priorities.
  • Monitor technician activity and schedules to help ensure customer commitments are met.
  • Communicate status changes to customers regarding early or late anticipated arrivals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

How You Will Do It
  • Own the schedule with accountability, safety, and integrity by keeping commitments visible and making disciplined decisions about service delivery.
  • Use Oracle (ACE) automated scheduler functionality to assign calls efficiently and support the best possible customer outcome.
  • Focus on what matters by prioritizing work based on workload, customer need, and service urgency rather than simply moving tasks forward.
  • Improve every day by measuring branch activity, identifying gaps, and working with management on practical corrective actions.
  • Work closely with customers, technicians, and branch leaders to win as one team, resolve issues quickly, and keep communication clear when plans change.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience as a fleet scheduler or service coordinator.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be a resident citizen of the United States to qualify for this position.

Nice to Have
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working in a SimplexGrinnell district or in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience using ACE/Oracle systems.
  • Product knowledge of life safety equipment, including fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
