Job title: Technical Support Representative / Support Engineer - Instrumentation

Full-time permanent role

MDS is seeking a Technical Support Representative (TSR)/Support Engineer - Instrumentation to provide on-site support for our client's test facilities at Stennis Space Center. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical liaison between the customer and MDS, helping ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of advanced test systems used in the development and testing of gas turbine engines.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and customer-focused professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and making a direct impact on critical aerospace testing operations.

What You'll Do
  • Provide technical support, maintenance, and administration for MDS-provided test systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data acquisition systems, instrumentation, control systems, PLCs, sensors, networking, and associated hardware/software.
  • Support electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control and monitoring systems.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for customer personnel, providing technical guidance, training, and support.
  • Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate with MDS engineering teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Identify and implement system improvements that enhance performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support system upgrades, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate customer needs, issues, and opportunities to MDS management and engineering teams.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and suppliers supporting maintenance and improvement activities.

What You'll Bring
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Software Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting complex technical systems in an industrial, aerospace, or engineering environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, controls, PLCs, networking, and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration, networking concepts, and databases is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a strong customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to obtain required security clearances and access to customer facilities.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with gas turbine engine testing or aerospace test facilities.
  • Knowledge of any data acquisition systems.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 17025 environments.
  • Project management experience.
