ROLE PURPOSE / POSITION SUMMARY
The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for leading enterprise-wide supply and capacity planning activities to ensure customer demand is met while optimizing asset utilization across MSI Express operations. This role owns the 13-week rolling capacity planning process and long-range 12-month capacity models across all facilities.
A key responsibility is managing line capacity schedules and evaluating new business opportunities against existing assets to support customer demand and business growth. The role develops and standardizes capacity planning tools and processes while training plant teams to effectively manage capacity, identify constraints, and improve decision-making.
The Supply Planning Manager serves as the subject matter expert for rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP), capacity modeling, network optimization, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Commercialization, and Finance teams to maximize operational performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Capacity Planning & Process Leadership
Lead the enterprise 13-week rolling capacity planning process across all facilities, platforms, and production lines.
Manage line capacity schedules and assess new business opportunities against available manufacturing capacity.
Develop, implement, and maintain RCCP tools, reporting, and standard planning processes.
Train and coach plant teams on capacity planning tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Identify capacity constraints and drive solutions that improve asset utilization and operational efficiency.
Supply & Capacity Management
Develop and maintain enterprise-wide 12-month rolling capacity plans.
Translate forecasts, demand changes, WIP requirements, and growth opportunities into actionable supply and capacity plans.
Align long-range capacity plans with short-term production requirements.
Monitor demand and capacity trends and recommend actions to optimize service levels and asset utilization.
Evaluate volume balancing, line transfers, and network optimization opportunities.
Business Planning & Commercialization Support
Evaluate and validate capacity requirements for new business opportunities.
Perform "what-if" analysis to assess growth opportunities, volume changes, and operational constraints.
Support commercialization, pricing, capital planning, and strategic growth initiatives through capacity analysis.
Lead monthly capacity reviews as part of the S&OP process and communicate risks, constraints, and recommendations.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Develop and maintain KPIs related to forecast accuracy, capacity utilization, and service performance.
Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations supporting operational and strategic decision-making.
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Finance teams to align capacity plans with business objectives.
Support facility strategy discussions and drive alignment across sites to maximize enterprise-wide asset utilization.
QUALIFICATIONS / CAPABILITY PROFILE
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field required.
APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum Experience
5+ years of experience in supply planning, capacity planning, production scheduling, manufacturing operations, or related supply chain functions.
Experience supporting S&OP processes within a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated success implementing supply planning, scheduling, or capacity planning processes.
Experience utilizing ERP, forecasting, and planning systems.
Minimum Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, supply planning, capacity planning, scheduling, and forecasting.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience developing planning tools, models, and reporting processes.
Ability to train, influence, and partner effectively with plant teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong understanding of capacity management, manufacturing constraints, and asset utilization.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication, presentation, project management, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with regular interaction in manufacturing environments.
Periodic travel to MSI Express facilities as business needs require.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.
Ability to analyze detailed operational and forecasting data.
Must comply with all facility safety and PPE requirements when working in manufacturing environments.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
