Overview

Supply Chain Project Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting distribution network optimization initiatives, capital projects, warehouse technology implementations, material handling equipment (MHE) improvements, and operational excellence programs across the supply chain network.

This role partners closely with Distribution Center Operations, Information Technology, Maintenance, External Vendors, Store Operations, Transportation, and Human Resources, to identify, develop, and execute projects that improve safety, inventory accuracy, delivery performance, productivity, capacity, customer experience, and financial performance.

The ideal candidate combines engineering expertise, project management skills, operational knowledge, and analytical capabilities to deliver scalable solutions that support business growth and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, justification, implementation, and execution of supply chain capital projects.
  • Develop business cases, project charters, cost estimates, ROI analyses, implementation plans, and executive presentations.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support major network optimization initiatives, facility expansions, automation deployments, and distribution center improvements.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within approved budget targets.
  • Coordinate internal resources and external vendors throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support strategic initiatives that enhance customer experience, network capacity, and operational scalability.
  • Identify and execute process improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and improve operational performance.
  • Drive measurable cost savings and operational efficiencies through structured project execution.
  • Monitor and report project benefits realization and sustainability.
  • Support the implementation, enhancement, and optimization of warehouse technologies including: WMS, WES, WCS, Labor Management Systems, Reporting and analytics platforms
  • Collaborate with IT and operational stakeholders to define business requirements and test system functionality.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies that improve distribution performance and scalability.
    • Support automation and material handling technologies including: Conveyor systems, Sortation equipment, Pick modules, Storage solutions, Robotics and automated systems
  • Participate in technology vendor evaluations and solution selection processes.
  • Analyze operational data to identify risks, trends, opportunities, and performance gaps.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, business cases, and financial analyses to support decision-making.
  • Support achievement of key performance indicators including: Safety performance, Inventory accuracy, Throughput, Customer service levels, Productivity, and Cost reduction
  • Measure project success through operational and financial outcomes.
  • Present project recommendations and performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Partner with Information Technology, Maintenance, External Vendors, Store Operations, Transportation, Allocation, and Human Resources.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Support enterprise-wide projects that extend beyond traditional supply chain operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for distribution center processes, systems, and engineering solutions.
  • Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in supply chain engineering, industrial engineering, distribution operations, manufacturing, logistics, or project management.
  • Experience managing capital projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in distribution center, warehouse, retail, ecommerce, or logistics environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.


Preferred
  • Experience with warehouse automation and material handling systems.
  • Experience with WMS, WES, WCS, LMS, or related systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with Power BI, AutoCAD, Visio, or simulation software.
  • Experience supporting network optimization and facility expansion projects.


Benefits

The annual base salary range is $130,000 - $135,000 / yr. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
