Job Description:

Caterpillar is seeking a Supply Chain Planning Manager in Cary, NC. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of supply chain planning strategies supporting the Building Construction Products (BCP) business, including work tools, attachments, and related product lines, primarily within the U.S. market. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring product availability, inventory effectiveness, supplier performance, forecasting accuracy, and operational excellence while serving as a critical link between commercial teams, suppliers, production scheduling, and operations.

You will lead a team of Production Schedulers and partner closely with Product Support and Logistics Distribution (PSLD), suppliers, manufacturing operations, and commercial teams to align demand forecasts with supply plans, increase supply availability, and drive lean forecasting processes that support business growth and customer commitments.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Develop, implement, and manage complex end-to-end supply chain planning strategies for BCP products, work tools, and attachments.
  • Lead supply stream planning activities supporting production, inventory, and distribution operations across the U.S.
  • Manage and develop a team of approximately 3-4 Production Schedulers responsible for production scheduling and order fulfillment activities.
  • Partner closely with PSLD to optimize scheduling, material flow, and product placement across the supply chain network.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to understand customer demand forecasts and translate those forecasts into actionable supply plans.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure adequate material and product availability while proactively addressing capacity, supply, and delivery risks.
  • Serve as the key liaison connecting BCP operations, PSLD, suppliers, and other supply chain functions to ensure seamless execution.
  • Drive continuous improvements in forecasting accuracy, inventory performance, and material stocking strategies.
  • Monitor supply chain performance and establish corrective actions, including reviewing open issues and supply disruptions within established response timelines.

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.

Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.

Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, Logistics, or related field.

8+ years of progressive supply chain, planning, operations, manufacturing, or logistics leadership experience.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

Proven experience leading enterprise planning or supply chain transformation projects.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
