Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Supply Chain leader in our Custom Switchgear Facility in Alpharetta, Georgia. The person will be responsible for managing a team of purchasing and material planning professionals. This team works to ensure all materials are available for our factory to execute our production schedule and deliver on time for our customers.

You will join the Electric Power Switchgear business at a time of incredible growth and opportunity. This role will be critical to managing our current production levels but working with a wider team to ensure we have systems, processes and capability to deliver our production plans in future years.

This role would be an excellent career step for a SC professional who is in the early stages of their career journey, you may be wanting to take the next step into managing complex facility supply chains, or larger teams. The opportunity we have will give the successful applicant an excellent foundation in SC fundamentals, it will allow them to grow a team, deepen expertise and challenge the norms.

What You Will Do:
  • You will manage a team of 5-6 Supply Chain professionals, managing day to day team tasks that are foundational to managing production output consistently
  • You will be responsible for inventory management, ensuring we have the right part at the right time.
  • Defining and communicating rules for supplier bids and managing high-impact purchases. Evaluating the qualification of suppliers and negotiating prices.
  • Managing daily activities associated with requesting quotes, issuing purchase orders, invoice/contract approval, grief resolution, job instruction, vendor contacts, supplier quality/delivery, record keeping and all other purchasing related activities.
  • Assessing purchasing decisions through the analysis of historical and market information; recommending improvements.
  • Managing the quality of purchased goods and services based on specified requirements. Solving major supplier related problems.


What You Will Have:
  • Effective Communications: Working knowledge and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Negotiating: Working knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Supplier Management - MFG: Working knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
  • Purchasing Tasks and Activities: Working knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
  • Problem Solving & Leadership Experience: Demonstrated problem-solver with a proactive, can-do mindset, responsible for advancing team capability and driving urgency across day-to-day supply chain operations.


What Will Set You Apart:
  • Experience of working in a facility / business undergoing rapid expansion and change
  • A person who thinks analytically and quickly masters unique systems and procedures, rapidly attaining expertise
  • APICs CSCP or CPIM qualification
  • Experience in SC / Purchasing focused on electrical commodities and materials

  • This position is located in Alpharetta, Georgia and domestic relocation may be provided
  • This role requires 5-days a week in-office availability

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
