Overview
The
Suppy Chain Engineering Project Manager will manage the development of engineering analysis and implementation of engineering projects to direct ongoing continuous improvement and solve supply chain problems in warehousing, transload, cross-dock, and transportation operations. Provides regular and proactive communications to customers and NFI management. The successful candidate will possess excellent technical skills and leadership experience combined with demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
- Independently manages complex engineering projects; manages multiple projects at a time
- Applies engineering supply chain methodologies and tools
- Provides team leadership as a mentor and subject-matter-expert on supply chain design
- Identifies process gaps and recommends and implements process improvement
- Establishes and implements performance KPIs, measures, and data analytics
- Leads ongoing proactive continuous improvement for NFI working with operations and the customer
- Actively supports the sales process and creates high quality solutions and designs. Provides proposal and presentation support and development
- Makes engineering design and supply chain strategy recommendations
- Effectively interacts with customers, sales, and operations to create value propositions
- Confers with engineering and operations managers to implement efficient and competitive solutions
- Provides resource planning based on priorities and demand signals
- Leads communication and facilitation widely for project implementation success cross-functionally as well as collaboratively with the customer
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree is required. BS Industrial Engineering degree is preferred.
- 4-8+ years of professional work experience in the following areas: engineering design in supply
chain, transportation management, dedicated fleet operations, distribution center
management, materials handling/automation equipment, & supply chain technology - Minimum 1 years in industrial engineering and/or logistics engineering capacity
- Minimum 1 years of project management experience inside logistics and/or supply chain.
- Advanced PM skills and demonstrated experience implementing projects independently
- Advanced business / financial acumen
- Strong knowledge of warehousing operations and transportation operations
- Routing and scheduling packages and transportation optimization software
- Facility layout, MHE, AutoCAD and Warehouse Management System (WMS) tools
- Excellent communications skills are required
- Experience preparing and presenting oral and written presentations to management and clients
- Data management and manipulation skills. Programming skills to manipulate large data-sets
- Database skills, especially through SQL or Access
- Travel: up to 35% (based on needs of the business and project schedules)
Preferred:
- Lean Six Sigma credentials & experience / Certification LSS. Greenbelt+ level preferred.
- Top 25 Global 3PL experience preferred / Fortune 500 company experience
- APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certifications. Manufacturing experience and credentials
- PMP certification and/or direct 3PL operations implementation experience
- Business management consulting experience and/or 3PL sales/business development experience
- Experience with warehousing, network, or transportation simulation tools and technologies
- Experience with IT development: SQL developer, API/EDI development, Adv MS Access developer
- Knowledge in: VBA, Python, R, Matlab, Java, C++, or C# is a major plus
Other:This is a Manager position. Demonstrated independent project management success and effective communication skills are required. This is a client-facing position responsible for leading cross-functional teams in support of project implementation. Expertise in facilitating workshops, team projects, and client consulting engagements is critical. Preferred to be based in one of NFI's regional offices: Camden, NJ / Irving, TX / Chino, CA / Chicago, IL / Atlanta, GA.
