Full Job Description
Eaton's Electrical Sector - Power Distribution & Controls Assemblies (PDCA) business is seeking a Buyer for our manufacturing site in Omaha, Nebraska.

Our Omaha Power Center is expanding its operations in Bellevue! Eaton's new 370,000-square-foot facility is expected to be online in the first half of 2027. The new facility will be designed and optimized to support high volume of switchgear structures at the quality and speed that AI data centers customers require. The engineered-to-order switchgear produced in the new facility can be integrated into Eaton's prefabricated power systems, which are designed to offer customers flexibility.

Our Buyer is responsible for supporting the procurement, planning, and flow of materials required to meet production schedules and customer commitments. This role utilizes SAP to manage purchasing activities, monitor material requirements, maintain supplier delivery commitments, and proactively resolve supply chain issues. The role works closely with Production Planning, Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and suppliers to ensure uninterrupted material availability, accurate system data, and efficient supply chain execution. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leveraging SAP tools and reporting to drive timely decision-making and support operational objectives

In this role you will:

Procurement & Materials Planning
  • Execute purchase orders and procurement activities based on SAP MRP recommendations and replenishment requirements.
  • Review and manage SAP-generated exception messages, action messages, and material requirements to support production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and material demand to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and material master data within SAP to support planning and procurement effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Buyers and Production Planning teams to align material availability with customer demand and manufacturing requirements.


Supplier Management & Expediting
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery performance and responsiveness.
  • Proactively expedite purchase orders using SAP reports, supplier portals, email, and phone communication.
  • Obtain and update supplier confirmations and delivery commitments within SAP.
  • Monitor supplier performance, identify risks to delivery schedules, and communicate concerns to internal stakeholders.
  • Escalate critical supply issues and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and cross-functional teams.


Material Shortage Management
  • Utilize SAP shortage reports, exception reporting, and inventory analysis tools to identify potential supply disruptions.
  • Proactively manage past-due purchase orders, delayed shipments, missing confirmations, and other supply exceptions.
  • Coordinate recovery plans and material prioritization activities to prevent production interruptions.
  • Maintain accurate shortage tracking and communicate material risk assessments to production, planning, and supply chain leadership.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to recurring material shortages.


SAP System Management & Data Integrity
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of purchase orders, supplier confirmations, delivery dates, and procurement-related transactions within SAP.
  • Generate and analyze SAP reports to support purchasing decisions, supplier follow-up, and inventory management efforts.
  • Monitor and resolve procurement exceptions, system discrepancies, and data accuracy issues.
  • Support inventory accuracy and transaction integrity through proper system maintenance and process adherence.
  • Participate in testing, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives related to SAP processes and enhancements.


Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Buyers, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Logistics teams to support material availability and operational objectives.
  • Provide timely communication regarding material risks, supplier performance, and delivery concerns.
  • Serve as a backup resource for Supply Chain team members to ensure operational continuity.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement efficiency, inventory optimization, supplier performance, and material flow.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing practices, including 5S, Standard Work, and Continuous Flow initiatives.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities utilizing SAP data, reporting, and analytics.
  • Contribute to efforts that improve supplier performance, procurement effectiveness, inventory management, and overall supply chain performance.


Your Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field; OR 3 years of experience in purchasing, materials planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience working within SAP in a procurement, planning, or materials management environment.
  • Understanding of MRP concepts, purchase order management, and inventory replenishment processes.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the posted location will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Inventory Management processes.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
