Role OverviewEmporia Energy is seeking a strategic and results-driven Supply Chain and Cost Management. This role focuses on optimizing our manufacturing partnerships and driving aggressive cost-down initiatives across our global supply chain, with deep ties to the consumer electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The candidate serves as the primary commercial and operational link between Emporia and our Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners, ensuring cost competitiveness and supply resilience.
Core Responsibilities & CoordinationCost Management & Strategic Sourcing- Drive the "Cost Down" roadmap for core products, identifying savings in materials, labor, and process yield.
- Run Quarterly Cost Reviews (QCR) with CM partners to track commodity indices and intercept cost creep early.
- Manage the competitive reality of dual-sourcing to influence volume allocation and drive pricing leverage.
- Initiate value engineering exercises with engineering teams to unlock meaningful cost reductions in the pipeline.
- Establish incentive structures for shared cost savings between Emporia and manufacturing partners.
- Consolidate CM quote comparisons into interactive dashboards to strengthen negotiating positions.
- Monitor global trade factors, such as tariff re-evaluations, and their impact on COGS and sourcing strategy.
Supply Chain Operations- Establish direct sourcing relationships with vendors to provide to our CM partners
- Oversee supplier base ownership, ensuring operational depth in material planning and NPI handoffs.
- Align build plans with 12-month rolling forecasts to optimize inventory held by suppliers on behalf of Emporia with the Operations team.
Cross-Functional & General- Ad hoc analysis and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
- Identify and drive business process improvements and coordinate with other teams to implement.
- Lead the design and development of a custom, in-house ERP platform rather than purchasing off-the-shelf software; leverage an AI-native working style to accelerate requirements drafting, system architecture, and technical documentation for this custom build.
- Emporia is a startup - this role requires wearing many hats, and this description does not capture every assignment.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent education / work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of electronics and mechanical supply chain management & components
- Proven track record of cost-down execution, strategic sourcing, and managing complex vendor relationships in a high-growth, consumer electronics or hardware manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with overseas ODM/CM contract manufacturers and suppliers at scale; experience with partners in India is a plus.
- Strong cross-functional relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to travel internationally to contract manufacturing partners and suppliers, up to approximately 20% of the time.
- AI-native working style: comfortable using AI tools to accelerate product research, ingest and synthesize data across multiple platforms and systems, and draft requirements and documentation.
What We OfferCompensation: The expected base salary range is
$105,000 - $135,000, plus stock options. The offered salary will depend on numerous factors, including but not limited to work experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. The base salary does not include benefits or other incentives.
