Supplier Quality Engineer

The Quality Supplier Engineer ensures the compliance of the Suppliers and Subcontractors to meet the Vallourec requirements for suppliers and subcontractors. It will include auditing suppliers to the required Quality Management System which includes API Q1, ISO 9001 and any additional management systems requirements. The position works in a collaborative environment, managing process auditing, driving effective generation of corrective and preventative actions (with validation) and works to ensure proper ownership of this and timeline of completions. The position focuses on both supporting qualification of new suppliers and management of key suppliers / subcontractors currently supporting Vallourec business. Drives improvement to the process for supplier quality management, breaks down internal silos and support harmonization of processes to develop a single process for management with those suppliers.

The position successfully ensures monitoring and management of quality criteria with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that we are meeting the requirements of both industry and Vallourec requirements with our API 5CT, API 5L products and services. Focus will be on the key suppliers / subcontractors supporting the realization of product and services of Vallourec's offering. The position will have a mindset of continuous improvement, quality for the customer and for Vallourec. Demonstrates this mindset and behavior in all actions.
Your Role at a Glance
  • Supports qualification of new suppliers / subcontractors and maintenance of existing suppliers / subcontractors
  • Collaborates with suppliers to ensure product quality standards are met and maintained
  • Schedules, conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate quality systems and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Develops and implements supplier quality improvement plans and corrective actions
  • Support maintenance of Vendor list and monitors supplier performance using required KPIs in coordination with the required teams
  • Reviews and approves supplier quality documentation and as required coordinate with technical specialists
  • Raises and drives closure of NCRs with procurement teams and push on the root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts for supplier-related quality issues
  • Works cross-functionally with required departments, including procurement, and manufacturing teams, to resolve quality concerns, update standards and requirements
  • Supports development (products, services and process flows) by qualifying new suppliers and participating in design reviews to support product lines and services
  • Maintains documentation and records related to supplier quality activities and compliance with internal systems
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory and customer-specific requirements throughout the supply chain
  • Supports the broad base quality organization and / or other Vallourec entities in various projects as assigned
  • Supports initiatives which align organization to governance standard updates, addendums and other changes requiring mandatory compliance and push on suppliers/subcontractors for compliance to these updates
  • Supports initiatives to consolidate and standardize Quality across all Vallourec legal entities
What Sets You Apart
  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering or quality-related discipline required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing QMS role required
  • Lead Auditor certification / training (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, API Q1) preferred
  • Experience conducting audits
  • Preferred to have API 5CT or API 5L experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Strong computer skills, including MS O365 Suite applications and the ability to learn new applications as needed or required. Proficiency in using quality management software and tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in and lead diverse groups to achieve common goals
  • Highly organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects
  • Capable of working independently in a self-directed environment
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent attention to details. Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, standards, and regulations such as ISO and/or API Standards
