Snapshot of Your Day:

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer in Painted Post, NY to collaborate with engineering to refine product and process designs to increase manufacturability in order to improve quality and decrease costs

How You'll Make an Impact:
  • Interface with procurement, plant manufacturing, quality management on supplier quality topics.
  • Act as a technical interface between supplier and SE Procurement for Commodity Machined Parts.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to assess supplier manufacturing capabilities, audit supplier quality management system & processes etc.
  • Perform supplier assessment for their capabilities and quality management system for compression and steam turbines components.
  • Lead cross-functional team to perform Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) for machined parts according to applicable process descriptions and standards.
  • Lead the tracking and reporting of project milestones.
  • Provide technical support to suppliers to succeed in meeting Siemens Energy technical and quality requirements.
  • Approve supplier process via submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plan and FMEAs.
  • Responsible for successful and timely completion of product and process qualification for machined parts.
  • Perform supplier oversight and product inspections during execution of product and process qualification.
  • Identify and initiate containment on any identified non-conformances.
  • Follow-up with root cause corrective and preventive action as necessary.
  • Manage supplier caused non-conformances including leading corrective and preventive actions for assigned commodity.
  • Elaborate and control inspections and test plans.
  • Support supplier evaluation based on regular analysis of supplier quality performance.
  • Initiate and implement supplier quality improvement programs, quality root cause analysis and definition of appropriate risk mitigation measures at the supplier.
  • Lead supplier development program to improve operational performance.
  • Assist commodity / strategic buyer in identifying suppliers for machined parts and provide input for sourcing strategy.
  • Responsible to comply and / or enforce the protocols, policies, guidelines, and competencies of the current integral management system (EHS, Quality etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with EHS protocols & guidelines in supply base.
  • 40% domestic and international travel required.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or a related field and 7 years of experience.
  • Will also accept Master's degree and 5 years of experience.
  • Full term of experience must include: precision machining of complex components of large rotating equipments i.e. Compressors / Steam Turbine;
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing PT, VT, MT;
  • GD & T, machining process development, defining inspections, test plans and performing inspections;
  • Working knowledge of Welding;
  • Computer skills: MS Office, SAP ERP;
  • Lean / Six Sigma; and quality management module for SAP.
  • Experience must also include: product and process qualification methodology;
  • Perform root cause & corrective action (RCA);
  • Experience in milling, turning, grinding, drilling, tapping, honing operations, and hand adjustments; and ISO 9001 Auditor.
  • 40% domestic and international travel required.
