Manages operational supplier quality, both on-site and off-site, ensuring the thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes. Leads the execution of supplier Quality Wins integration, supplier assessments, and driving both corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance levels. Manages the supplier's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Additionally, this role will provide leadership and support of maintaining and improving Supplier360 collaboration portal, and supplier quality processes across the ELSP NAM hub.
Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Qualification and Assessment
Support development of Hub Level Audit Plan across the ELSP NAM hub. Ensure the execution of the supplier qualification process and that the relevant suppliers are fully qualified and remain compliant with the required standards.
Execute audits in coordination with local site teams and product development specialists to validate the supplier's quality and production systems and processes. Ensure completion of required supplier assessments including assessment reporting and closure of non-conformances. Verify effective closure of assessment non-conformances, by the supplier.
2. Supplier product qualification and surveillance
Drive consistent execution of PPAP requirements to reflect the criticality of the supplier parts, materials, and manufacturing processes across the ELSP NAM hub. Lead and support approval process for supplier parts, materials, and project subcontractor services, as applicable, involving collaboration with other functions/experts, encompassing activities like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites.
Promote early supplier involvement in product development activities to maximize capture of supplier innovation and drive improvements in quality, delivery, cost, and risk management. Lead and support required product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites to support PPAP Approvals.
3. Issue resolution and claims
Operationally lead and support resolution of supply issues such as quality issues, late deliveries, non-conforming products or project services. For any significant issue with likely root cause supplier, support claims case and drive the PPS 8D rigor for permanent resolution.
4. Supplier Quality Wins Integration
Develop and drive Supplier Quality Wins Integration plan for the ELSP NAM hub. Implement Quality Wins methodologies on identified suppliers to improve quality and production system capabilities and performance. Ensure plans conform to category strategies both in the short and long term. Perform Quality Wins assessments to establish a fact-based baseline of current state. This is via using standardized assessments and when necessary, build customized versions.
Lead Quality Wins training workshops at suppliers. Establish Kaizen plans in collaboration with the supplier team for identified development areas based on the assessments and supplier data, and carry out the action plan with necessary resources from supplier and ABB. Coach and lead team members involved in the Quality Wins activities.
5. Supplier performance evaluation / monitoring
Maintain ELSP NAM hub level Supplier Quality metrics, including Quality Wins integration, and drive actions to meet KPI targets. Ensure full utilization of Supplier360 Reports for reporting, monitoring and disposition of quality, on time delivery (OTD) and other supplier performance metrics.
6. Process and system development & utilization
Support & develop with ELSP NAM site functions (Sourcing, Quality, Operations, R&D / Technology), local quality procedures & practices. Ensure that locally defined systems and practices are in line with existing Division/ELSP NAM hub instructions and procedures.
Lead or support Supplier360 system performance, and development and enhancement of system capabilities. Note: performance and development activities may require coordination with other ELSP hubs.Ensure full and appropriate utilization of Supplier360 across the ELSP NAM hub. Provide training and ongoing support to internal ABB users and supplier users.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field, with 10+ years’ experience.
Supplier Quality Experience: minimum 5 years’ experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or a related role, with hands‑on ownership of supplier issues and corrective actions. Lean Six Sigma or ASQ certifications (CQE/CQA) are a plus.
Process & Continuous Improvement Mindset: Demonstrated ability to map workflows, eliminate waste, standardize processes, and drive adoption; Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred. Quality Wins experience is a plus.
Supplier Readiness & Corrective Action Expertise: Working knowledge of supplier qualification and audits, PPAP (or equivalent readiness processes), and structured problem‑solving methods (8D, A3, DMAIC).
Hands‑On, Data‑Driven Problem Solver: Proven ability to lead containment, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions using KPIs, scorecards, and data to verify effectiveness and manage risk.
Technical & Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Comfortable interpreting technical requirements (drawings/specifications) and working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
Ability to travel up to 50%.
Fluent in Spanish, written and spoken, is a plus. Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
