What's in it for you:

Trane Technologies is hiring a Supplier Quality/APQP Engineer supporting the Supply/Aftermarket business unit. This role can be based in one of our campus hub locations: Davidson, NC; La Crosse, WI; or Atlanta, GA. This role is responsible for driving improvements in quality performance and supporting activities to continuously improve the department overall. The Supplier Quality/APQP Engineer will work with cross-functional team to investigate and identify root causes and help resolved report quality issues in our HVAC distribution network. The role will report to the Supply Quality Leader.

What you will do:

  • Improve supplier performance by developing process capability and quality systems with suppliers
  • Manage customer quality complaints, driving to root cause and helping with corrective action requests for customer resolution
  • Support new product projects and design change part approvals via the Production Part Approval Process (PPAPs aligned with AIAG standards and APQP methods)
  • Participate in the review and approval of First Articles, review packaging, part measurement, verification, and validation of test results.
  • Review/approve supplier deviations and design/process change requests
  • Coordinate with distribution teams to facilitate containment, problem solving, root cause analysis, or provide technical support
  • Gather and analyze failure data to prioritize activities with teams and build relationships between our supply chain partners
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, distribution teams, material planners, engineering and internal customers (retail stores)
  • Serve as project manager for any assigned projects.
  • Travel to Supplier locations for on-site reviews, process audits, PPAP support, and Specific Supplier Development activities as needed.
  • Provide Technical/Product knowledge support to distribution partners.
  • Participate in continuous improvement to further the quality maturity level of the Supply business

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years experience in quality or quality engineering in a manufacturing or distribution environment that has embraced best practices in terms of Advanced Quality Planning, Supplier Quality or Supplier Development
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and balance multiple projects
  • Skilled in investigation in root cause and the ability to drive corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints and internal issues
  • Knowledge of various quality system methodologies; Lean, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, etc. is necessary
  • Understands engineering drawings, specifications, tolerance stack up analysis, GD&T, and critical to quality (CTQ) characteristics
  • Hands-on, collaborative, initiative-taking change agent
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Lean Six Sigma, Black Belt, ASQ Certification is a plus
