Serves as Assistant Director of Social Work and Community Integration. Assists the Director of Social Work in directing the social work activities of the hospital to ensure that services are provided in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies and procedures. Assists the Director in creating department protocols. Plans, implements, evaluates and manages social work training programs and social work student placement. Assists in activities related to the integration of individuals in care into the community; provides assistance interviewing candidates for vacant positions and provides training to new social work employees; assists in directing the hospital Social work staff by providing oversight of staff activities; develops department protocols; issues policy guidance; tracks departmental training compliance; manages Substance Use Disorder Services referral process; determines and establishes priorities; provides departmental coverage and evaluates work performance. Assists in ensuring that the hospital provides professional, rehabilitative-focused, recovery based social work services. Assists in developing and fostering citywide service relationships and interagency linkages.
Qualifications Candidates must possess one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular skill and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. In addition, candidates must possess one (1) year of professional work experience equivalent to the next lower grade DS-12 level.
Licensures, Certifications and other requirements Applicants must be a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, LICSW, through the D.C. Department of Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration.
Education Candidates must have successfully completed a course of study in an accredited school of Social Work and have fulfilled all the requirements for the Master's degree in Social Work.
Work Experience Social work experience with a severe and persistent mental health population as well as supervisory experience in a mental health setting.
Work Environment The work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires basic safety precautions.

If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment.
