Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-0080-13, Supervisory Security Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, MIFC PAC SECURITY and FASSO BRANCH in ALAMEDA, California.

You will serve as a Supervisory Security Specialist and be responsible for managing a section of military and civilian security specialist, intelligence specialists and information systems technicians both in Alameda, CA and satellite offices in Seattle, WA and Honolulu, HI. The incumbent is responsible the management and oversight of the maintenance and physical accreditation of SCIFs. Implementing SCI physical security policy as delineated by the DNI and in accordance with Coast Guards standards.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Supervises PACAREA FASSO, consisting of one GS-13, three GS-12s, one Chief Petty Officer, and two additional petty officers (E-6).
  • Supervises satellite FASSO offices consisting of two GS-13s, two GS-12s, one Chief Petty Officer, and one additional Petty Officer (E-6)
  • Establishing an organizational environment that positively influences employees' ability to deliver high quality services.
  • Providing security oversight of the SCI program to include; personnel, facilities and resources.
  • Conducting SCI security briefings, indoctrinations, and debriefings; obtaining Nondisclosure Statement; and performing other related personnel security actions.
  • Implementing the technical and administrative requirements of DCID 6/3, DoDIIS Security Certification & Accreditation Guide, and JDCSISSS for all systems and sites that process, store, and/or transmit intelligence information which are under their purview.
  • Managing, supervising and providing SCI security support to CG SCI contractors, including the processing, review, and approval of DD Forms 254 (Contract Security Classification Specification).

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Knowledge of SSO security regulations and practices.
  • Providing security oversight of a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) program to include ; personnel, facilities and resources.
  • Managing personnel security clearances, conducting routine inspections, preparations and submission of documentation for physical accreditation.
  • Inspecting information systems to ensure compliance with national policy and proper accreditation.
  • Performing administrative and human resources management functions.
  • Directing work and writing or reviewing performance appraisals, and personnel actions.
  • Conducting briefings, debriefings, and/or presentations to a variety of audiences.
