Summary

About the Position: This position is in the Engineering Division of the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The District provides for navigation, flood and hurricane risk reduction, environmental stewardship, and other water resources needs to benefit the people of southern Louisiana and the nation.

Duties

Help

• Provide technical expertise and oversight for cost, risk, and schedule development processes.
• Coordinates with other organizational elements of the District in scheduling civil works projects for bid solicitations.
• Compares Government estimates with contractors' bids and furnishes an analysis, which serves as supporting material for decisions on awarding contracts.
• Serves as technical advisor on all matters pertaining to cost engineering and specifications.
• Directs staff that are preparing and/or reviewing cost estimates for planning and budgetary purposes.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting all of the following: 1) Developing Engineering Division and/or other technical office's input to various studies and projects; 2) Applying cost engineering products, processes, and policies effectively; 3) serving on Project Delivery Teams (PDT) to provide specialized cost input and to cross train teams; and 4) Providing Independent Government Estimates (IGE), cost and schedule Risk analyses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Selective Placement Factor: The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Engineer and/or Professional Geologist, and/or Registered Architect, and/or Certified Cost Consultant, and/or Certified Cost Engineer. This license/registration must be in good standing and issued by any one of the 50 states, or its territories: (Note: You are required to submit your up-to-date license from any state or territory with your applicant package.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
