Summary

This position is located in the DEA, Phoenix Division Office, Intelligence Group 2 (Phoenix/HIDTA) in Phoenix, Arizona

Duties

Help

As a your typical work assignments may include:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the assigned groups' activities. Ensures the work of the HIDTA group employees complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets DEA customer needs. Research, interprets, analyzes, and applies proper guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and integrates data from multiple sources to access its relevance and determine the significance of developments in a broad field of research or operations for a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
  • Plans and directs intelligence collection, cataloging and storage program activities for an intelligence program with major geographical scope worldwide implications.
  • Provide expert technical direction and advice regarding the scope of problems to be investigated in a broad field of intelligence research, date to be collected, intelligence database architecture, potential resources, required liaisons, objective sought, and security considerations to be observed.
  • Develops and presents briefings, advice and provides assistance to the highest levels of management of government-wide intelligence operations for the promotion and implantation of intelligence program goals.

Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet the following requirements:

Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; ability to manage intelligence requirements and extensive expertise in developing intelligence collection plans and in support of strategic, operational and tactical requirements.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
