- Provide oversight to operations of Coding, Health Information Management, Medical Records, Admissions and Dispositions, Decedent Affairs, HIPAA, and Tumor Registry.
- Plan, schedule, and carry out major projects within the scope of Patient Administration programs.
- Train senior leadership on patient policies, patient eligibility verification and management, patient accountability, special category patients, patient privacy.
- Develop and implement effective communication and partnerships throughout the medical treatment facility and the region.
- Resolve issues regarding patient administration operations.
- Maintain oversight of all work related to eligibility, patient tracking and all aspects of vital statistics (births, deaths, casualty reporting), long term patient management and medical retention, and very seriously injured/ill reporting.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Supervisory Health System Specialist GS-13:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes oversight of Health Information Management or Patient Affairs/Patient Access operations; implement policies and procedures pertaining to patient affairs and patient accountability; assist with oversight of the administrative functions and program management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
