Supervisor, Water Production

Location: Windsor, ON

Reporting to the Manager Water Operations, the successful applicant will be responsible for supervising, managing, coordinating, planning and scheduling of production and maintenance activities to ensure the ongoing operation of water production and pumping facilities. The successful candidate is responsible for determining production and maintenance priorities, establishing plans and providing daily assignments to the team ensuring production requirements are met, coordinating, and reviewing progress on short-term and long-term projects including major plant shutdown maintenance. The Supervisor Water Production will oversee and direct the water production staff to ensure compliance with Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regulations and will perform work site inspections, make recommendations for increased service levels, and respond to inquiries regarding infrastructure conditions and maintenance. This position may serve as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) directly responsible for ensuring water quality in the water treatment system is maintained in accordance with the SDWA (Safe Drinking Water Act). This position monitors established performance indicators and produces variance, production and maintenance reports and maintains daily logbook entries. The successful candidate oversees a team accountable for production in a 24/7 operation and will be required to work on an on-call schedule, responding to after-hours emergencies; on-call premiums may apply.

The successful applicant must have the following skills and competencies:
  • Class 4 Water Treatment and Distribution License (Fully qualified operator) or successful completion of the Class 3 Water Treatment and Distribution License with the requirement to successfully complete the Class 4 Water Treatment and Distribution exam within six (6) months of being awarded the position.
  • Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and/or Electrician or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5 years of similar or related experience.
  • Experience in a Class 4 facility considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates project planning skills, ability to multi-task and oversee several projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and regulations and familiarity with applicable regulations/obligations under the OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act).
  • Overall electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic understanding of equipment and operational processes.
  • Understanding all safety procedures and safe operation, isolation, maintenance of high voltage, ozone, chlorine, and chemical feed systems, and maintenance tooling equipment.
  • Able to read drawings and mark ups.
  • Successful completion of management development courses is an asset.
  • Ability to resolve problems, assess needs and delegate work in a manner that motivates others and builds on their skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) and associated computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP).
  • Valid Class 'G' Driver's License.

Salary Range for Qualified Candidates: $109,856- $121,420
