SUMMARY:

The Supervisor is responsible for the management, support and coaching of subrogation claim representatives. Provides day to day subrogation claim oversight. Also responsible for ensuring that assigned objectives are executed effectively and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Identifies, resolves, and reports issues within their scope.
  • Reinforces and reiterates adherence to compliance, policies and procedures relative to department.
  • Effectively manages the quality review process.
  • Serves as team motivator, facilitator and also as a functioning team member to retain technical knowledge.
  • Actively participates in departmental initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Balances workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.
  • Leads and participates in workgroups to implement new requirements and resolve issues.
  • Supervises assigned staff.
  • Engages with stakeholders and leadership to ensure alignment with strategic plans and priorities.
  • Maintains and promotes quality relationships with internal team and external vendors.
  • May participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget, and/or identify budget discrepancies and provides potential solutions.
  • Stays abreast of changes in state statutes and case law governing workers' compensation subrogation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a role relevant field.
  • Certification or progress toward related certification(s) is highly preferred and encouraged.
  • Five (5) years experience of progressive responsibility in a workers' compensation subrogation claims environment with demonstrated technical knowledge that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities required.
  • One (1) year supervisory or leadership experience in workers' compensation subrogation claims is required.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.
  • Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises a varied number of employees in the designated department(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PAY RANGE:

"Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $70,100 and $117,400."
