The supervisor of Respiratory Care works closely with the manager and all RT's on staff.

Dartmouth Health is looking for full-time Supervisor in Respiratory care who want to work in a fast-paced critical care environment with a high degree of autonomy using a multitude of respiratory driven protocols. We are offering the opportunity to work at an academic medical center in a rural environment. Qualified candidates must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) as well as ACLS, PALS and NRP at hire.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensures that quality of care provided by staff meets standards by direct observation and individual instruction. Provides direct feedback to staff, including development of improvement plans.
  2. Supervises the daily operations of the department and personnel. Assigns and oversees work assignments.
  3. Coordinates and provides instruction of staff, students, nurse, and medical residents in respiratory care theory and practice. Develops in-service programs in conjunction with the administrative director.
  4. Participates in leadership meetings with the administrative and medical directors. Leads small group meetings and inter-shift report. Assists in conflict resolution between staff and disciplines.
  5. Acts as a consultant for staff RCPs, RNs, and MDs regarding patient assessment and care plan development.
  6. Participates in the development of post hospitalization discharge planning for patients with high-level respiratory care needs.
  7. Utilizes competency in all specific areas of practice including adults, pediatrics, and neonatal respiratory care.
  8. Evaluates and discusses new products and equipment with staff and sales representatives. Arranges for equipment in-services.
  9. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
  10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree and supervisory experience preferred.


Required Licensure/Certifications

- Licensed Respiratory Care Practioner in NH.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) upon hire.
- (ACLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire.
- (PALS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support upon hire.
- (NRP) Neonatal Resuscitation Provider upon hire.
