Overview

The Radiology Supervisor works in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams across the healthcare system to ensure timely, accurate, and coordinated radiology care for patients. This role oversees radiology workflows, supports closing the loop on radiology orders and results, and ensures that providers receive complete and actionable radiology information.The Radiology Supervisor provides both operational and clinical leadership by supporting onboarding, staff development, quality assurance, and adherence to regulatory standards. The role may also include performing xray and/or mammography exams in accordance with established protocols. This position enhances the patient experience, promotes continuity of care, and contributes to high-quality clinical outcomes in a fast-paced, team-based ambulatory environment. Responsibilities

JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

Essential Functions:

  • Follow prescribed techniques to administer general and specific x-rays, mammograms; adjust equipment; calculate exposure factors, position and immobilize patients as necessary, use appropriate lead shielding.
  • Review patient history and assess readiness for radiology exams.
  • Apply independent judgment to acquire optimal images and prepare preliminary findings.
  • Review images via PACS and ensure accuracy and technical quality.
  • Act as the Radiation Safety Officer for Central Health identified locations.
  • Continuously assess patient flow, monitor and work to reduce patient wait times; protect patient privacy; advise and assist staff with problem resolution.
  • Gather, analyze, and report data related to radiology performance, patient flow, and outstanding results. Investigate technical or operational issues and implement effective troubleshooting solutions.
  • Provide supervision for radiology services personnel technicians.
  • Establish work assignments, review timecards, and approve time‐off requests. Provide input for and/or complete performance evaluations. Oversee onboarding, orientation, coaching, and training for employees.
  • Collaboration with Medical Physicist for compliance purposes.
  • Support future implementation of ACR accreditation process, managing the submission of clinical images, phantoms and QC data to the ACR.
  • Assist in developing departmental protocols, workflows, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversees students/interns and ensures program meetings training requirements.
  • Maintain inventory and equipment service records; coordinate maintenance with vendors. Maintain required logs, documentation, and QC records.
  • Serve as a liaison between radiology services, primary care, specialty providers, and clinical operations.
  • Ensures all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, and Central Health Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with quality improvement teams to identify and address trends, gaps, and root causes.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings, providing statistical updates and performance metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

  • Associates Degree (higher degree accepted) Associate degree in radiologic technology or related field -Required

 

  • Bachelor's Degree (higher degree accepted) Bachelor’s degree preferred in radiologic technology or related field -Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Experience as a fulltime radiology technician in a hospital, diagnostic imaging, or ambulatory clinic setting -Required
  • 1 year Leadership or supervisory experience -Required
  • 2 years Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, quality assurance, radiation safety, and multi-modality workflow management -Required

 

  • 3 years Leadership or supervisory experience- Preferred

 

Licenses and Certifications:

  • ARRT Certification in Radiography (R) Upon Hire -Required
  • Texas Medical Board license as Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire -Required
  • ARRT Certification in Mammography (M) Upon Hire -Required
  • MQSA requirements for mammography Upon Hire -Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) ‐ Obtained through approved American Heart Association. Upon Hire -Required

 

  • Experience in bone density imaging and DXA scanning Upon Hire -Preferred
  • Advanced modality certification (CT, MRI, etc.) Upon Hire -Preferred
