Job Description:
Supervisor Laboratory

Oversees the laboratory personnel who perform routine testing. Evaluates performance and assists with any procedural or technical problems that may occur.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Displays leadership and management qualities consistent with the responsibilities of providing departmental direction
  • Demonstrates a general knowledge of standard medical laboratory techniques, procedures and safety precautions
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Exercises judgment in calling in extra staff and handling situations requiring immediate decisions
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Medicare and Compliance issues
  • Must have legible handwriting


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
  • Must meet current qualifications listed under section "Clinical Laboratory Personnel
  • Requirements" defined in the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Act of 1988
  • (CLIA-88) and Oregon Department of Human Services Regulations, College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Joint Commission standards. CAP reserves the right to set requirements that are more stringent than those of CLIA-88.
  • Registry as a Medical Technologist or equivalent, including HHS exam
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred


EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory
  • Working knowledge of, but not limited to: HIS and LIS computers and related equipment, personal computer, instruments used for collecting specimens, specialized automated analyzers, centrifuges, pipettors, analytic balance and microscopes
