Position Overview:

The Supervisor, Financial Reporting provides support and oversight to the Financial Reporting team by ensuring the timely production of financial reporting for client funds in accordance with regulatory requirements. This position requires project and people management skills and a great knowledge of investment funds and the specific requirements on fund reporting. Sets and maintains service levels and standards and keeps up to date on any regulatory changes impacting financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Primary coordinator with external auditors on financial statement audits for medium sized clients
- Managing the interim and annual financial statements including supporting packages Financial Reporting Analyst for accuracy and completion within deadlines
- Completing month-end and financial reporting tasks and other reporting activities for medium sized clients fund clients as required
- Accountability for maintaining relations and dealing directly with medium sized clients
- Assisting the Manager Financial Reporting in coordinating the audit and financial statements of major clients
- Coordinate audit timelines with clients and auditors and internal partners
- Review of year end distribution calculations for certain clients
- Understand the complexities of the fund's investment mandates and apply that knowledge in production of the financial statements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes made to IFRS and Securities Legislation.
- Co-ordinate the team to research and respond to the queries from our partners and clients in a timely manner.
- Identify and recommend system or process improvements to enhance departmental efficiencies.
- Mentors and trains the team
- Responsible for all aspects of HR management of the team including performance review and coaching for job performance and career growth.
- Review of legal name of securities held and other related security master data and follow up to resolve issues.
- Manage the implementation of changes to IFRS, industry, legislative and regulatory guidelines/requirements.
- Escalate key issues in a timely manner to manager to take remedial action.
- Assist and participate in special projects as required

Qualifications:

- University degree in Business/Accounting or equivalent
- Working towards professional designation is preferred
- 4-6 years progressive relevant experience
- Knowledge of accounting principles and strong analytical ability
- Knowledge in GAAP, IFRS and NI-81-106 as they relate to the mutual fund industry
- Strong PC Skills (MS Office environment) and Confluence
- Strong analytical ability with careful attention to detail

Job Specific Competencies:

- The salary band for this position ranges between $70,000 - $110,000.
- Individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, market conditions, relevant experience, education, training, and internal equity.
