Full Job Description
PKF O'Connor Davies is seeking an experienced Employee Benefit Plan Audit Supervisor to join our growing Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) Audit practice. This position will be responsible for supervising and executing employee benefit plan audit engagements while working closely with Managers, Directors and Partners. The ideal candidate will have strong employee benefit plan audit experience, excellent technical and organizational skills, and the ability to effectively supervise and develop staff. Responsibilities • Supervise and participate in audits of employee benefit plans, including 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit, profit-sharing and other retirement and welfare benefit plans. • Manage the day-to-day activities of multiple audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork and completion. • Review audit workpapers and financial statements for accuracy, completeness and compliance with professional standards. • Assist with complex audit areas and identify potential accounting, auditing and compliance issues. • Maintain knowledge of ERISA, Department of Labor (DOL), IRS and applicable accounting and auditing requirements related to employee benefit plans. • Communicate directly with clients regarding audit requests, issues, timelines and engagement status. • Coordinate with third-party administrators, recordkeepers, custodians and other service providers as necessary. • Supervise, train and mentor Associates and Senior Associates and provide timely feedback on performance. • Monitor engagement budgets, deadlines and staffing needs and communicate potential issues to engagement leadership. • Develop strong client relationships and provide a high level of client service. • Participate in internal training and professional development initiatives related to the Employee Benefit Plan practice. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. • Must be in office 3 days per week • Approximately 5+ years of public accounting audit experience, with significant experience auditing employee benefit plans. • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, ERISA and DOL requirements applicable to employee benefit plans. • CPA license or progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred. • Experience supervising and reviewing the work of professional staff. • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities in a deadline-driven environment. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality client service. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and audit/accounting software. Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000. Compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual's qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.
