Full Job Description
Position Summary

To provide oversight of the crisis intervention screening program, maintain compliance with New Jersey mental health laws, manage program staff, and collaborate with hospital emergency department leadership and clinical team members.

Education

Masters degree in social work from an accredited program with at least 1 year of psychiatric crisis experience OR Masters degree in education, psychology, or related field with certification as a Crisis Intervention Screener or at least 2 years of psychiatric crisis experience. New Jersey Licensure as a LCSW or LPC.

Experience

Utilization management experience preferred. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Medical terminology and computer and keyboard skills required.

Skills

Expertise in DSM-5 diagnostics and acute psychiatric risk assessments. Deep knowledge of New Jersey mental health laws and commitment processes. Strong crisis de-escalation, conflict resolution, and split-second decision-making skills. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and hospital tracking systems. Effective oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly. Effective listening skills. Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to follow-through using appropriate channels of communication. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and the changing work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying. Ability to work cooperatively with patients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e. , physicians, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Lab, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use effective analytical and critical thinking skills to problem-solve.
