Supervisor Construction Services provides leadership regarding contract administration, project management, and inspection activities for transmission and distribution projects on a statewide basis. Manage support services such as design, construction, contractor safety, and field coordination while ensuring that multi-functional team works in a cohesive and cost-effective basis with requesting business unit representatives. Collaborate with Supply Chain Management in the procuring and administrating of major service contracts.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field plus of four (4) years experience in project management, design, Transmission & Distribution portfolio management and/or construction/maintenance.
- In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in project management, design and/or construction/maintenance totaling eight (8) years.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:- Experience in an electric utility/transmission or distribution organization. Demonstrated leadership qualities and effective interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of budget development/process as well as expenditure tracking and monitoring. Working knowledge of contract management, POLARIS, CIS, Maximo, EMAN, MLIS, and other computer software applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point..
Major Accountabilities1) Develop and manage comprehensive work plans and schedules including survey needs and material requirements to ensure work is completed safely, timely, and cost effectively.
2) Provide for coordinated efforts among operations, maintenance, and construction departments as well as contracting firms (partnering).
3) Ensure compliance with contractual provisions and defined cost structures and parameters. Ensure compliance with Quality Control Program, and construction standards and specifications related to assigned projects.
4) Manage Safety Program for external contractors to ensure compliance with all provisions of the Accident Prevention Manual.
5) Provide for accurate accounting and timely processing of invoices.
6) Effectively negotiate in order to provide for the equitable resolution of issues that may surface.
7) Manage and provide cost data parameters for budget forecasting of projects such as Cable Replacement, Service Replacement, Service Repair and Primary Cable Repairs.
8) Resolve differences by encouraging and practicing open communications and clarity of expectations.
9) Manage and provide effective leadership to the Team to ensure group and team success, individual contribution and ensure that resolution of employee issues within the group is provided.
Hybrid: Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).
In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.
- Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
- Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
