Full Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Manager, Budgeting and Taxation, the Budgeting and Taxation Supervisor has the overall responsibility of supporting the Manager, Budgeting and Taxation in the preparation of the City's operating and capital budget, long term financial planning, reconciliation of Reserve Funds, preparation of various reports and analysis, and development and recommendation of policies and procedures related to the Budgeting and Taxation Division. This position also provides oversight, guidance and coaching to the Senior Budgeting and Taxation Officers in coordinating and administering the property tax assessment and taxation services.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a university degree in accounting or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting or a related field is required, as well as a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. The incumbent must be a CPA PEP level candidate.

Advanced skills for application of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, along with an advanced knowledge of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis. While work in this position is conducted independently, utilizing sound judgment, the incumbent will be required to collaborate with others to focus on objectives, and provide guidance or mentorship to less experienced colleagues. The ability to clearly convey messages both verbally and in writing is required.

SALARY

The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $109,744, along with a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450 per month and a defined benefit pension plan.
